Got Stopped, Pretty Hard - WA States Some Irrelevant Place Finish

So for this story, I end up staying at Kenny's house along with some Oregon players (Chris, Nicole, Katie and Seth) and I was able to test a little bit against the mirror. I went 3-0 in the few games I was able to test and I was confident in the mirror match.

Also, "What if...instead of, you know how they do Murder Mystery parties? What if someone just pooped and you had to find it." - Chris Brown
Pretty much sums up that night.

Wake up at like 5AM, luckily the Oregonians were up because Kenny had overslept and I believe one of them finally wakes him up at like 5:45. We then pick up Amelia, and hit the road...listen to some Kanye, and coffee gives me a little bit of energy so I have a little fun in the car.

We arrive and only a few people are there. Foley, and the Dias, the Nelsons and so on. I was worried because I wasn't sure if Lane would arrive with the Mewtwo he said I could borrow so I started asking a few people and they obviously did not have a spare. To be honest people were probably hesitant to let me borrow their Mewtwos even if they had spares and I can understand that. I do tend to riffle shuffle and while I do not damage the cards because Dragon Shields are literally the hardest sleeves in the game, it is something to be concerned about, it is a 60+ dollar card. It's a habit, I wish I could break it.

I am also debating on whether or not I want to use Eviolite because I expected a lot of Terrakion and Mew decks. But I end up cutting them for the 10th Grass and 3rd Pluspower, both pretty good inclusions.

Lane arrives and lets me borrow the Mewtwo. Literally the best person ever. He's done nothing but help me, even with the grass in BC.

Everyone else arrives and we converse and etc. My Jordans, and then we are finally seated for the first game.

Round 1 vs Some New Guy (Fire Unsleeved Theme Deck)
I actually started Shaymin here and he weny first, so I was legit worried that my ELO was officially dead.
He wasn't able to KO and I topdecked a Celebi, then PONT, and I slowly set up a couple Tornadus. It only took me a couple turns to win. I didn't like facing easy matchups like this....it would ruin my resistance, etc.

1-0

Round 2 vs Tyler Ninomrura (Troll)
Here I don't start very good but I managed to set up a Mewtwo, I then took the first KO. However, he wasn't able to really set much up. He had a Mewtwo on the bench, and I just went for it. Catcher it up, Pluspower, DCE, and I basically used up my entire hand. That gave me a 3 prize lead and I ended up drawing into a Supporter. He still drew nothing and I was able to pretty much sweep him with that 1 Mewtwo alone. Sorry we couldn't have a real game. Even then I was pretty confident in my Troll matchup anyway.

2-0

Round 3 vs Seth Keupker (CMT)
It's funny because we technically tested the previous night. We get identical set ups but he goes first, and does T1 Tornadus on bench, energy pass. I do the same, but somewhere along the line while he went for 80 on my Tornadus, I just Catchered up a Celebi and took it out. I got the first prize. I eventually set up Gigas and it ended up being a 1 prize lead the entire game. I then had a decision to make, Juniper or N. He had 5 prizes, I had 4. He would be gaining a slight advantage but I didn't want to discard the Mewtwo, and a couple other things I had in hand...I couldn't have benched the Mewtwo so that was a no go. I was an idiot and I went with N. I N'd myself into nothing and essentially scooped the game. If had I went for Juniper, there was a good chance I would have won. I was extremely angry with myself at that point...I really don't know what was going through my head.

2-1

Round 4 vs Jasmine Lin (Durant)
She judged the Canadian Provincials so I think she already knew about my deck. In this matchup I just went aggro Tornadus, she got a T1 4 Durant devour so I was kept on my toes the entire game. I had to use a couple DCEs with Tornadus to score some KOs and she lost removered them all. I eventually reached a point where I had two Tornadus out with like 3-4 grass attached to each but my deck was getting REALLY low. She eventually dropped down a Mewtwo and passed, I think she couldn't play enough Durants or energy to devour but wanted to stall me out. I just went for 80 on the Mewtwo and passed, she also passed and I topdecked the pluspower and Hurricane for game. REALLY close game, I believe I had 1-2 cards left in deck and my last prize...was Super Rod.

3-1

Round 5 vs Alex Useman (Gothitelle/Gardevoir/Mewtwo EX)
This was a nightmare. I went first and got a decent start, I felt ballsy and just KO'd his Cleffa with Leaf Wallop, not sure if I should have done that. He then Twins'd and went Rare Candy, Gothitelle, Rare Candy, Gardevoir. SERIOUSLY?...he then just attacked with Mewtwo and KO'd my Virizion, I set up my own Mewtwo and got the revenge KO. However, he was able to N me and I drew into....Tornadus, Tornadus, Switch....what? From that point on, he just swept me with his Gothitelle. This was stupid. Literally the most inconsistent deck I've ever seen but was able to win because he drew into everything and N'd me into nothing. Oh well, it happens right?

3-2

Round 6 vs Chris Houser (CMT)
This was even stupider. He started Mewtwo to my Mewtwo and went first. Does Dual Ball into Celebi and Tornadus, then goes DCE. Pluspowers twice and does 120 to my Mewtwo. I'm feeling good, I go for Dual Ball. Double Tails...note to self, NEVER USE THE STATES DICE AGAIN, they did nothing but flip tails all day. I am able to KO his Mewtwo but all he has to do is promote Celebi, Skyarrow, DCE, Grass, and Hurricane for game. This was stupid, I wanted a real CMT mirror match.

3-3

Pretty much not top-cutting now...I was ashamed of myself, my ELO is probably ruined, at most I can get 2 points which wasn't really worth it. However, I only got 1 point from Fall Regionals, so I figure I should try to win out anyway.

Round 7 vs Stephen Lowe (CMT)
Now this is a real CMT mirror. I do the similar thing here where early game I just set up Celebis and Tornadus and then Catcher to KO his Celebis. I do believe I set up a Gigas to attack this game as well. Somewhere down the line he decides to attack with Mewtwo and I am an energy or pluspower short of the revenge so I'm forced to pass. The following turn I am eventually able to get the revenge on his Mewtwo. At some point I notice he doesn't play a supporter and has no plays, so I debate playing the N but then just decide against it (great choice). He essentially draws dead for the rest of the game and I am able to take it. Really close though.

4-3

Round 8 vs Ian Jefferson (Mew/Vanilluxe/Unfezant)
He was borrowing this deck from a friend Jaron. A lot of my teammates used it in Canada so I knew all I had to do was use Tornadus to KO as many Mews as possible and prevent the set up. He goes first and is able to See-Of, but I am able to KO it with Tornadus, the next turn he goes for another See-Of. I am able to KO that Mew, and then the following turn he uses Twins to get a third Mew and energy, he attaches an energy to that Mew on the benh and then just promotes an Oddish hoping to buy a turn because both of the attacks take two energy. Knowing this, I catcher that Mew and take it out. He then says "Yeah, I scoop. My fourth Mew is prized." I dodged a bullet there...had he set up, I might have been screwed.

5-3

I end at like 46th place, so I only get 1 point. Meaning it's pointless, I still have to try and go to a Regionals now if I want any chance of qualifying for World's.
That brings me up to 42 Championship Points with a probably bad ELO.

I was really just tired and happy to be done though. Got a little tired of Pokemon after three weekends of it. I went to the food court to get food and almost forgot to give Lane his Mewtwo back but he was luckily there when I returned. Come to find out Amelia misses top cut at 20th place, which is also really sad. :( And I had the chance to record Top Cut matches but I was so tired and just didn't feel like doing anything, so I ended up recording nothing from WA States...sorry guys. To be fair, like no Washington players actually made the top cut. :( But a lot of cool Oregon players made it, Kevin Gomez made it so those would have been worth recording. Jaron made it too I guess but died in Top 16.

Kinda just hung out for the rest of time, almost fell asleep multiple times. And then we eventually went to the Rock for pizza, I went home and proceeded to crash. Now I'm kinda sad that I'm all alone and have to start a new quarter of school tomorrow. Oh well, I guess there's always next weekend.

Pros:
It's finally done :)
Dustin, Brad, Pooka, etc did really well at their events
Hanging out with some great people (too long of a list)
Seeing Jack's insane CMT mirror come back in Seniors
Alan getting 2nd in Seniors and securing his travel award
All of the congrats about winning BC, I can still live out that glory I suppose
The waitress at the Rock was "okay"
It's not Jackie Chan
The Oregon people that stayed with Kenny (Chris, Nicole, Seth and Katie)

Cons:
It's finally done :(
Bad luck, whiffing, ruined ELO, falling in rankings
I was really tired
How I reacted to a couple of my loses
Certain people
Need to plan a trip to Regionals now (really can't afford any of the US Regionals)

Vanillux guy should've played DCE and he could've flown instead of sending up oddish...

Tough luck, CMT mirrors all day err'day.

Hey, I just wanted to give a slight correction, I was round 5 and I am Alex Useman.
The deck was pretty inconsistent but it did give me situational options.

Actually, a couple of Washington players made the top cut.

Fixed.
The deck seemed interesting, I'll give you that. I just imagine setting up two Stage 2s in this format is a nightmare and I am still pretty bitter about that N. :(

I completely understand. I got trainer locked by one of my opponents and was stuck to get wiped from there.
It really isn't that bad, when you have rare candies and can trainer lock the opponent with Gothitelle to slow them down a tad.

I saw someone else playing a similar deck to mine. I do wonder how they did.

Also, where are you located? I am considering heading to Regionals and it'd be nice to see a familiar face.

You know, I thought searching around I might find something about myself during the WA states. I didn't think you would be the guy I beat in round 5. Just for reference, my name is Chris Houser.

I'm not going to lie, I don't like winning like that. A double fail dual is just too unlucky, and especially if you had no supporters in hand. I think the most annoying thing was to have taken the loss right after that massively long awards section from Nick. The entire time I was praying you only had a Celebi down, and with the flip I was super nervous.

Yeah, I recall that being a very very very long announcement time. I knew starting Mewtwo was bad news for me so the whole time I was like "Alright, hurry up already..."

It happens though.

I'll add your name to the report.

Thanks.

Yeah, in the end you didn't look to happy, after reading this report I can see why. Now, when you mention Lane, do you mean Lane Tower? Because he asked me for a few extra Mewtwos for some people who needed them. I wonder if one of mine went to you.

Yeah. Looks like it's a small world afterall.
Thank you! :D

I played against you I believe. I was playing Truth. Got early Trainer lock against you and you didn't know what Tropical Beach did because you just came back to the game. The guy that was playing a deck similar to yours was Ross C. The creator of my deck. Haha, anyways great job and doing well with that deck. Especially coming back into the game.
