Are you starting out in the Pokemon TCG? If you are or if you aren't, these are still top notch decks, but, oh so simple.
They are built around relatively common and affordable cards, so are easy to build, but can still wreak havoc when played correctly, and they're so simple, it's very hard to play them incorrectly.
Deck 1: For a Complete Beginner: okeball: Scizor/Cherrim okeball:
To start you off, here is a deck list.
Possible Creator: Nathaniel Majakas
16 Pokemon
3 Cherubi SF
3 Cherrim SF
4 Scyther SF
4 Scizor SF
1 Shaymin Sky Forme PT
1 Shaymin Sky Forme LV.X PT
25 Trainers
4 Roseanne's Research
4 Bebe's Search
3 Professor Oak's Visit
1 Cynthia's Feelings
4 Pokedex Handy 910is
2 PlusPower
4 Quick Ball
1 Luxury Ball
2 Dawn Stadium
1 Miasma Valley
1 Premier Ball
2 Night Maintenance
15 Energy
15 Grass Energy
The strategy for this deck is very simple: Do loads of damage really quickly and win the game. Try to start with Shaymin and use growth to attach lots of energy. While this is happening, build up lots of Cherrims on the bench and a Scizor. Then level up Shaymin and attack with energy flare, and move two energy to Scizor. Next Turn, retreat Shaymin, and let Scizor attack with Pound Down, which, with three Cherrims and a PlusPower, does 110 damage from 2 energy. Do NOT play expert belt in this deck as it will ruin it.
Deck 2: For the Intermediate Player: okeball: Toxigunk okeball:
Another Deck List for Starters.
Creator: Dan Lane
19 Pokemon
2 Sableye SF
2 Uxie LA
3 Crobat G PT
2 Baltoy GE
2 Claydol GE
4 Croagunk AR
4 Toxicroak AR
27 Trainers
4 Roseanne's Research
4 Bebe's Search
2 Cynthia's Feelings
2 Buck's Training
3 Broken Time-Space
4 Expert Belt
4 Poke Turn
2 Warp Point
2 Night Maintenance
14 Energy
7 Fighting Energy
5 Psychic Energy
2 Multi Energy
Strategy: Again, very simple. Attach a Fighting and Psychic energy to Toxicroak as fast as possible and give him the expert belt. Then use his Convert Blow attack to do 60 damage plus 20 damage from expert belt, and possibly Buck's Training, adding another 10. With the addition of Poison damage and Crobat G's Poke-Power Flash Bite, you can do up to 140 damage in one turn. All that from just 2 energy. Of course, while this is going on, Claydol is getting you the cards you need, and Sableye is used to get the supporters into play if you have to go first. Overall, this deck is very challenging to play against.
Deck 2: For the Advanced Player who likes Gengar: okeball: Gengelia okeball:
A deck from the mind of a true champion, this deck took a slightly disappointing 2nd at the UK Nationals 2009, falling to a Kingdra Build. Here is the list.
Creator: Andy Stone
22 Pokemon
4 Ghastly SF
2 Haunter SF
4 Gengar SF
1 Cresselia MD
1 Cresselia LV.X GE
2 Crobat G SP PT
2 Unown G
1 Pachirisu
1 Uxie
2 Claydol
2 Baltoy
26 Trainers
4 Roseanne's Research
4 Looker's Investigation
3 Bebe's Search
1 Luxury Ball
4 Rare Candy
2 Night Maintenance
2 Warp Point
3 Miasma Valley
3 Poke Turn
12 Energy
9 Psychic
3 Call
Strategy: Complicated. Gengar is attacking with Poltergeist and Shadow Room, while Cresselia LV.X moves damage counters. Crobat G and Poke Turn place extra damage, while Claydol draws cards. You can even set up Cresselia LV.X up to attack late game with Moon Skip and take double prizes! This is by far the best Gengar deck yet.
I welcome your opinions.
