If I use Greninja's "Shadow Stitching" attack against an opponent with a water energy attached and Aurorus on the bench with its Ice shield ability, what determines the order of the effect and damage of the attack?

Also, does Splash Energy return pre-evolutions under a stage 1/2, Mega, or Break Pokemon? It seems like they would fall under that "all cards attached to it" clause, but my fiance plays online, and says the system always returns them to her, and Im just confused by it.

Best to ask different questions if different posts, because if we have to delay answering one, we won't answer any of them until we have all of the answers.

OK, for your first question, the order of attack is that damage is done first, before attack effects are done. And, in order to do damage first, all damage calculations, including effects adding to and subtracting from damage have to be performed.

So, the Ice Shield would reduce damage done before Shadow Stitching would place it's effect of turning off Abilities.

Splash Energy would return all previous Evolution stages to the hand. They are all considered part of the Pokemon in play.
