Guitar Hero being sued?

I was talking to my aunt and she said she saw on the new that Gibson Guitar was sueing the people who make guitar hero and the game might be taken off the market.
Anyone heard about this?
 
I didn't hear about that but The Romantics the creators of What I like About You are suing Guitar Hero and want Rock the 80's off the market, Rock the 80's is so bad the are just helping Guitar Hero by dong that.......

Dang it you beat me to the story!!

Yeah they are being sued. They are using Gibson style guitars without Gibson's permision! How are they ever going to get out of that?
 
Activision's counter statement was that they applied for a license to use a Gibson design, BUT Gibson never got back to them. Activision claims that after three years Gibson gave them "Implied Licensing".
Yeah I heard this about week ago though.

No, I heard on the news that Gibson wants the GH games off the selves, maybe not all of them but I think just one title. I think it's GH3 but I'm not sure.

I think it has something to do with Copyrights and stuff. I think they could have made some money off of this, and they are mad because they didn't. Like GH had to buy the rights or something.

It's like you can't make Pokemon Shoes without Nintendo's (or whoever's) permission. Since you don't own Pokemon you need their permission to use it. And I doubt they will let you do that without a cut for theirselves.


Or something, I'm not sure :lol:!

Its about patents. Gibson patented a game that used a controller for a virtual guitar playing game. They patented both a game and controller to play it using buttons on a fret board.

Now, if you are going to call Johnnie Cochran (and I assume you were joking), are you planning on calling the cemetery where he is buried?
Johnnie Cochran died 3 years ago of a brain tumor.

How is what I said bringing down the vibe? I was responding to your Copyrights statement. Copyrights are different that Patents and I was clarifying what it is all about.

I also clearly said "I assume you were joking", so your comment "We were joking if you couldn't tell" was not needed because I already said I assumed you were. However, I guarentee, not everyone knows he is not of this world anymore, so please chill out before you want to jump on me.

Whatever dude. It was 3 years ago and if stating the fact he passed away 3 years ago brings down your vibe, then you must have some issues somewhere. I was stating fact, not bringing anyone's "vibe" down.

I believe he meant that you were bringing down the vibe by ruining the joke. Don't ask, but the wrong comment at the wrong time can completely kill a joke, I do it all the time. It seems to happen most when you inform people of facts.

But anyway, I seriously doubt that Gibson will get GH pulled off the shelves, it's too popular a game and people would be too upset. I'm guessing what will happen is that there'll be some sort of settlement and then Gibson will get a cut of the profits from all the Gibson style GH controllers and possibly the games as well.
 
I wouldn't mind if GH got pulled from the shelves. As enjoyable of a game as it is, I'd rather see people playing actual guitar. God knows there aren't enough skilled guitarists in the world anymore.
