I would have posted this in the favorite anime thread but nobody was in there since 2009...

If anyone out there is an anime fan, and hasn't watched Gurren Lagann, I highly recomend this epic anime. How can I describe this anime? Inspirational, action packed (literally no filler, action in every episode), uplifting, and totally awesome. The characters are all interesting and beautifully drawn, and the animation is movie quality right off the bat. I promise you if you watch this anime, (I watched the whole series online within 3 days because it was so good) you will love it!

Any other gurren lagann fans out there in the Gym?
 
I Happen to be a fan of Gurren Lagann as well as Everything Gainax Creates
and Agreed it's an Awesome anime

Gurren Lagann is one of the most amazingly epic anime I've ever been able to watch. Truly intense.

My only gripe is the first four episodes are a bit slow, but the rest of the series accelerates like a parabola, exponentially increasing in awesomeness until the superb ending.
 
Yea I love flcl and neon genesis too, speaking of which does anyone understand the ending of neon genesis? I was like, "what the hell just happened?" then the credits roll
 
Did you watch the movies? The "End of Evangelion" movie helps explain a LOT of the ending. It shows a more "real-world" version of what happens during the final episodes.
 
Gurren Lagann Also has an OVA and 2 Movies and theres a game out in japan that has an Extra
Episode on it..

The 2 Movies are basically the entire series Cut to 1 hour 30 min to 2 hours each

I've played the game. It's really good, and has pretty good graphics. I saw the episode that came with it on youtube. It's one worth watching. It sucks that it's not coming out stateside.

Also, the movies did have some new footage.

BUT I THOUGHT I SAID /THREAD EARLIER >:C

Its not just you pretty much everyone felt that way when they saw the ending..
why else did they make a movie titled "the End of Evangelion" only to redo the entire series in
4 movies over 4 years.. for a third entirely different ending.. beginning to wonder what the
real ending is here..

Then try reading the Geass mangas. There are at least 3 entirely different *storylines* using the same characters at the same time. And none of them reference each other at all.
 
I started watching it, but I never got around to finishing it.
I liked what I saw.

I heard about those neon genesis movies I need to get those. I saw the first gurren lagann movie it was good, I liked the extra stuff at the end but I liked the hot spring episode and was diisapointed when they skimmed over it but oh well. I didn't know there was a game
 
Speaking of Neon Genesis did you know there is a Live-Action Movie in progress?
They took out way too much in the 1st Gurren Lagann movie which was disappointing

It's fun, but if you want it, it'll cost $60 on eBay (I think). I just R4'd it, and it's not too hard to understand, despite it being in Japanese.

And that movie had better come out in America. Did they still use the 4th episode in it? Y'know, the one with the drastically different art style?
 
the movie simplified the first 13 episodes into roughly and hour and a half
meaning its cut so much to the point that there are no extra and all you see is story and battles

four was cut out from what i saw

Kittan was introduced in the fourth episode, so there were definitely clips from the fourth episode in the first movie.

Also, the second movie was even more amazing than the series itself.

Wow thats a first in a long time. I usually watch compilation movies and scoff at how bad it is. *glares at Gundam Seed* regardless though Gurren Lagann is amazing from beginning to end. The first few episodes are alright, but I see how necessary they are to show just how awesome of a guy Kamina is.

If only the ending were as uplifting as the rest of the show...:frown:
