I was trying to think of a way gyarados could do more damage than the 90 (110 with expert belt) that can almost ohko all major Pokemon in the format. (gengar lv x, gyarados, dialga g, machamp etc. take two hits to ko) Then I remembered garchomp lv x. (garchomp c lv x's barely used cousin). I'll put the skeleton for this deck (because I don't want this to turn into an argument about techs) and explain each cards use.

Pokemon
3 gyarados sf
4 magikarp sf
2 garchomp lv x
2 garchomp (1 SV 1 MD)
2 gabite SV
2 gible SV
4 Sableye sf
1 DGX
1 Dialga G
1 azelf
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums
4 junk arm
3 Pokemon collector
4 poke drawer +
X PONT's
X Pokemon rescue (I use 2 maybe 3 because garchomp brings gyarados back)
X BTS
Etc
Energy
X rescue energy
I include some dark and metal for in a pinch/donking with sableye and have used a couple dce for garchomp just incase it's needed

Strategy

The strategy for this deck you have 2 options

1. Use gyarados until he gets ko'd, all the while setting up garchomp lv x, then use garchomps attack to bring gyarados back and hit for 120 (140 with belt)

2. Throw gyarados away off the bat with the 'karps, and set up garchomp lv x. Once set up use garchomps attack to bring gyarados back and start off hitting for 120 (140 with belt)

For me it runs very consistently because if garchomp doesn't come along quickly, gyarados still hits just as hard as normal.

This is kinda like mew-gyarados, only you take longer to set up and you have 130HP instead of 60HP

Yeah exactly. That was the other deck I had in mind. It does the extra damage but keeps it's tanking ability.

I find that this deck, while it sets up slower than normal gyarados (kinda, because it can also play like a normal gyarados deck and set up garchomp in the background for late game) the fact that you can ohko pretty much all popular meta attackers also makes it run faster.

No don't go and give gyarados more attack. I like him only hitting for 90 damage giving my charizard a favorable match-up

A belted gyarados still normally ohko's you

Also how could you possibly have a favorable match up against a fast water type deck like gyarados?

Problem is by the time you get set up Lux/Chomp and most other decks have already set up and taken 3 or more prizes... Thats alot to set up buddy..

I'm aware that luxchomp has a speed advantage, but that's when you'd play this deck the first option I said; as a normal gyarados strategy with garchomp setting up on the bench.

You should use mew prime to see off the chomp lv x. Then just restore your gdos's. I think that would be a better alternative to what you have

Because I beat two of the three gyrados decks I went against cause charizard can recover alot faster than gyrados can

2 wins out of 3 doesnt make it a favourable matchup, just ask anyone who dislikes porii sames
