Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Hayate no Gotoku!?

Back in April or so, I made the usual thread about the new season and all the new shows (which I need to do for the fall season, but I'm in the middle of mid-terms at the moment).

I instantly declared Hayate my favorite of the new season (unknowing that it would quickly be trumped by Gurren-Lagann). Well, Gurren-Lagann has ended, and Hayate marches on. What initially drew me to the series was the awesome parody.

In particular, this scene from the newest episode was hilarious. I wish there was a youtube for it as a single still doesn't do it justice.
Sorry for the image size, I felt compelled to leave it at 100% size rather than shrinking it due to all those people who say "Youtube is good enough for me."

I'm looking foward to the next one since it will be a [DEL]blatant rip-off[/DEL] parody of Detective Conan.

Also, earlier in the series there was an episode with a lot of Den-O references. Which was awesome.

Indeed. I also noticed my uploaded image is not full size. Photobucket shrank it since their max picture size is only 1024 x 768. The original was 1280 x 720. Take that Youtube!

To be honest though, my 3.0GHz computer lags on the karaoke sometimes for shows in 720p. Depends on the encoding I suppose. The smaller (more compressed) they make it, the more it chugs.

Hayate is kool, but I think that it's more of a "community watch" anime than something you could watch by yourself. the University Anime Club is watching it right now (with Gode Geass, Nana, and a few others), and Hayate always gets MASSIVE laughs. Yet, when I watch it alone, I can't. I turn it off after about 3 minutes.

Oh. And any time you get to rip off YGO is a good day for me.

I'm not in any clubs, and will stay that way. So I guess, in my opinion of course, that I feel it's something I rather watch by myself, then share a small talk about it with friend(s)

Y'know, I don't even know if Digipen has an anime club. Which is weird because there's almost always someone talking about anime in the cafeteria (Haruhi comes up a lot).

Hayate would make a good community watch, even better if everyone understands a lot of the jokes. I miss quite a few, personally.

Of course, the anime and video game in-jokes only make up a fraction of the humor. Hayate could definately be enjoyed even with limited knowledge of Japanese pop culture. For example, that episode where Hayate said his grandiose childhood dream was a 3LDK was hilarious.

This week's was great. xD Lots of Meitantei Conan references, a bit of Trick and Sherlock Holmes, and a dash of Prince of Tennis among many others. The Dick Cheney reference was priceless.

Butler Battle of the week was alright. Battle B-Daman. Probably would have been funnier had I actually seen an episode of it.

Lots of MaR references as usual. Bappo painting was funny, and the Alviss x Nanashi doujin was creepy. >_> Moetan's Pastel Ink/Ink statues just showed up out of no where. xD Shin-chan reference too.

I have no idea what show they were parodying this week for the Butler Battle. ._.

did ep 31 have a pulp fiction reference? (im referring to the suitcase (not what was inside the suitcase but the scene where they open the suitcase))

Beyblade! (I can't think of the name for the motor bike one, and I have no idea about the beetles with wheels)
Senzu beans!
(Hayate as) Zetsubou-sensei!
Tsukuda Mina and Tsukishiro Miina from Getsumen To Heiki Miina!
Yakitatte!! Japan!
Geass Butler Battle of the Week! (incidentally, I just watched Code Geass yesterday after having watched the first three episodes or so Friday afternoon.) I also think it's supposed to be Kimihiro Watanuki from xxxHOLiC since Watanuki and Lelouch share the same VA.
MaR reference again with what Hayate pulled out of the snake.
And plenty more that I'm sure I missed.

It's funny, then, that they parodied Yakitate!!! Japan, which is another anime that is a parody of every other anime. Nobody will ever catch all the references in both of these two shows (Hayate and Yakitate), though many will try.

<3 <3 <3
The last two episodes were great. First there was a Shishio Guy/GaoGaiGar parody and then a Tengen Toppa one. :3 Was the butler uniform a Saint Seiya parody? I've never watched it, but it looked like it might have been.

Oh, also I think Himegami/Princess God was a Zelda/Shiek parody.
