Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

have you ever been ripped off on ebay?

Just a tip.

When you look at a seller's feedback, make it so 200 of them appear per page and look at the first 3-5 pages. if you see the same people posting 10+ times stay away fromthe person, cause they make seperate accounts or have friends give them all the feedback, sometimes. SOmetimes it's just a really happy guy.

But hey, better safe then sorry.

I placed a bid on 2 naruto cards that are worth 70$ each and I was saposed to get them Tuesday........I play the waiting game now........

i have i bought a ultra rare yugioh uria lord of searing flame and when i recived it was a sleeve full of commons and every other crappy card out there and a printed off proxy of the yugioh card i bought email him and got no responce complained to ebay and still no responce from either and its been at least 2 years

i lost $5 once to some fake seller once =(
i sent a payment and when item was never received the account was deleted >.<

now every time, i check that a seller has plenty of feedback as a seller (INSTEAD of as a buyer)

I don't think you under stand how eBay feedback forum works. Each individual user name that you deal with makes your number next to your name go up by one. If someone has like 10 feedback left by the same dude, that means he bought multiple items from the seller (likely to get combined shipping). It would be very difficult to have friends or multiple accounts to up your score since that is timely and you end up wasting your listing fees and final value fee costs. It is not easy to artificially support your feedback score.

Are you sure that you didn't bid on one of those random lot grab bag things? Those things tend to confuse people a lot. OMG!! CHARIZARD EX FOR $10!!!! oh wait, it is a random "pull" that his sister sealed for him and he has no idea what cards anybody will recieve.... BUT SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET THE CHARIZARD!!!!

^that is basically what a random lot looks like. I would avoid them at all costs.

The only real trouble on eBay was from the hong kong area. After an auction ended, I didnt receive for a bit. I went to his feedback and noticed it was going south recently (but after my auction ended). I emailed him....no response. Ended up, he was selling fake PTCG cards. They never arrived, but paypal dispute resolved in my favor and I got the $$ back. Another seller sent me the wrong size and type of pokemon shirt for my son. After emails, he sent correct size, wrong colors. Anyway....I ended up with 2 shirts, exact same print (wrong color) in back to back sizes. It is ok though bc one is just right size, other just a bit big (but he can grow into it).

Just have to check feedback before bidding and make sure you pay w/ paypal. Been forever since I even bid on an item w/o paypal being accepted. Gotta have some protection.

We have had more trouble as the seller. We've had many winning bidders just never respond or pay, etc. That's just frustrating because as the seller we put a lot of time into preparing and follow-up for nothing basically. The last poor experience almost made me leave eBay forever. I sold a bunch of old Barbies that were boxed up in my mom's basement. I am not an expert or collector or anything and made that very clear in the auction. I posted all the info that I could think of with pics and when I received email questions I answered them and updated the auction. The auction ended much higher than we ever expected. I packaged everything very carefully and mailed immediately. The buyer was not happy with the lot. She went on to agree that I had done everything right, had written honest descriptions and quickly and accurately answered emails. She thought she saw some things in the lot that turned out to be different (she didn't send an email on them) and she got caught up in the bidding wars. It worked out in the end with her keeping the lot, me receiving full payment, and both of us getting positive feedback but it has kept me off for awhile.

As for cards, I think someone else already said it - if you find some sellers that you do like try to buy from them again. There are a few that I use and I will pay a little bit more per card because I know in the past that the cards have been high quality and quickly shipped.

I once purchased a BMW engine on eBay for ~$800 including shipping. The seller underestimated his high freight costs and despite listing shipping at a fixed $200 in the auction, tried to upcharge me. After a lengthy dialog, he finally agreed to send it my way. A week later a semi (without a lift gate) showed up at my house with no way to place it on the ground. Apparently he'd tried to save some money by tricking the freight carrier into thinking I had a loading dock at my house. Adding injury to insult, the engine oil pan was cracked (not mentioned in the listing)! I sent the engine back and hassled Paypal for two weeks, who finally returned my money. This seller had 2000+ feedback and a 99.7% rating. He tried to trick Paypal into thinking I was somehow scamming him during the dispute resolution so that he could keep my money, but they eventually ruled in my favor.

In conclusion, word to the wise kids: never buy engines, cars, diamonds, real estate, or aircraft on eBay sight unseen. Also, it's a good idea to use mommy's credit card that has fraud protection via Paypal rather than her debit card so that you have two layers of recourse and 30 days to contest payment [through Paypal and the bank] should a bargain sour.

^ Hehe, what a dirty trick

I think I just got ripped off again. I bought a Sony Walkman Cassette player since my dad is getting a new car and it has no tape player (he loves his tapes ). (We were just going to plug it into the AUX input jack on the car's stereo) The guy had over 5,000 feedback and I just got the item a few day ago. I tested it and it doesn't work. Now this was not an as-is item, and the item's description labeled it as fully functional. The description also noted a 30 warranty on the things functionality. I emailed the guy that same day (I think it was Friday), and I have yet to receive a response. If I don't get one soon, I guess I'll have to open a dispute with PayPal, but I don't know how. If anybody could PM me on how to open a dispute, that would be nice. Well, my father only paid about $16 shipped, so it isn't too much money that could be lost here.

Out of less than 50 transactions, I have had two issues. >_< ...........But I still love eBay!!!!!!!!!!

I've had people send me my cards I bought missing a few, or have bought some cards from people and then gotten an email that they made a mistake and didn't have them. I have a pretty good policy of giving someone a bad ref if they do make a mistake. Doesn't mean I wouldn't shop with them again, but I'd like to let all their future customers know that this person made a mistake. That way, if more "mistakes" are made, a pattern can be seen, and the person can be caught easier.

I got ripped off by a power seller as well. They were selling movie posters. I bought an Edward Scissorhands poster for a friend's birthday and it never showed up. A month later this supposed power seller was no longer registered on ebay and doesn't reply to my emails. I'm only out like 15 bucks but it's still a bummer that the present didn't show up for my friend.

Oh and when I sell stuff on ebay I always send -extra- cards, never too few. I don't get how people can be so stingy with kids' toys.

when it comes to japanese pokemon promos and stuff, I ALWAYS NO MATTER WHAT, buy from BrianJapan. BEST SELLER I HAVE EVER SEEN. He sends stuff fast and they arrive perfect. He never lies or does not do something. I have bought from him at least 30 times.

Alot of 'power sellers' have ~98% and they skeet out every 10 people or so, and with their huge star value one negative per month doesn't really affect them.

I pretty much would have refused once the seller said 'send the money to xyz address' (which ebay doesn't condone, and is considered illegal by their rules)

the guy who ripped me off was not to bright, He sent me a email through ebay's sytem and told me he is going to lie to themand say he never got payed. Litle did he know that every ebay email has a report button on them in the bottom right corner.

It seems like busy Power Sellers can be more troublesome than low feedback sellers.

That guy is awesome! His goods can come all the way from Japan to my house faster than many American sellers can ship! I just bought a Darkrai from DP4 from him and some Japanese Damage Counters from him. He gave me a $4 discount off of damage counters on his website just to be nice, this brought the price down to only $8 + free shipping! He had that package sent less than an hour after I paid! It was crazy!

 When I first read your post, I was wondering if you did that.

Looking like I'm going to have a first on Amazon. Guy orders a DS game from me. I put it in a soft sleeve and a hard sleeve (I've shipped games this way before and I know it's safe)....he gets the envelope today and claims the game isn't in there.....says there is a little tear in the bottom of the envelope, but not big enough for a game to slip through. It doesn't just poof into thin air.

Just a thought from a former power seller.
Not everything that goes wrong on eBay is a case of people trying to rip you off. There are many things that can happen, and you'd be surprised how often it is the buyer's fault. my best suggestion whenever you have this type of problem is DO NOT RELY on e-mail. E-mail can get delayed in tranist, can get lost in spam filters, etc. You have access to a seller's phone number--request it from e-Bay, and call the seller. If you cannot reach them, or they are not willing to resolve the problem, immediately escalate it to a PayPal claim.
