Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

hawaii worlds 2010 does it benefit the players or the ones who run it

Any word on whether Nick and Tracy will be contracted to MC the event again? One can only hope...

I know she was so clueless, "Ok everyone the Top 2 players in each age group have just been handed their (sorted for deck checks) decks. Lets all do a 10 second count down and they will all start their games!!

"!0... 9.....8...Come on everyone lets count... 7.... 6"

I might be able to send people from my local to worlds, because some of my family wor at an airline, so we fly free, but for many people, a place like hawaii is rediculous. I understand they want it to be in a nice place, but they could just as easily put it in a nce place in Europe. Because of its location, people who can't afford the trip, or aren't in the same position as me wont e able to go without a paid invite. IDK, maybe that was the intention, which could be completely legitamate depending on how you look at it.

Notices just how much closer Hawaii is to Japan than the other worlds venues.

I dunno, it's great for people who get travel stipends to get to go somewhere nice. But for everyone going on their own dollar it kinda sucks.

to spend money on a trip to hawai for playing worlds is to mucth to pay. i then think it would be bether to have it somewhere in europa like england or something, maybe madrid

My opion ( sorry for spelling mistakes), I think its going to be really fun in Hawaii like it was in 2007 but the coast is absolutly ridiculous. Hotel, Plane, Plane back.......It all adds up:nonono:

Granted, I'm from Hawaii, and am pleased that I will be able to attend again, but I assure you I am not being biased.

Regardless of where Worlds is, it is the event for the top players in the game. Those that make it to the top get their trips paid for and have no problem. Those that pay their own expenses strive to win to try to get a free trip to the next Worlds. This event is not just for the average Joe.

You should feel fortunate that there is a LCQ aka grinder for WORLDs as most games do not. Usually that's at the national level or they have some event where only 1 or 2 players will get in and the remaining empty spots in the championship are byes.

Also, the top-guys at POP work their grass off puting the event together, and 2010 will be bigger than 2007 since there will be a VGC too. Their vacation is usually them staying a week or so after worlds at their own expense.

If anything, this is a great benefit to players. Especially to those who under normal circumstances would not be able to travel to Hawaii, California, Florida, etc. Let's hope POP will have the ability to venture out of the United States in the future. Perhaps Canada might be the next step, then Japan, or the UK. Who knows...

Even last year in San Diego many of the top players in the world (players with invites) we unable to attend due to travel expenses.

One would have to think that with Hawaii as expensive as it is that there will be even more invited players not making the trip.

That's good news for people in the Grinder, but runs counter to the intent of bringing the Worlds Best Players together for the World Championship.

Wait until they announce the Invite structure for this year. You never know what they might cook up...

i was checking the distanses:
From Tokio to Paris: 9714 km
From Tokio to Hawaii: 6216 km
From Paris to Hawaii: 12005 km
From USA to Paris: 6606 km
From USA to Hawaii : 3900 km

Why is that Europeans have to travel the longest way, 2 Years in a row...

Last worlds, i got an invite to worlds 2 ways, from Finnish Nationals (second place) and from rankings, but 2000-2500 $ wasn't a price that my parents would pay for get me there and i was got only 900 $ in a year for that trip by being a fencing trainer in out local club (Yes, i'm a fencing triner, age 16 LOL) and saving from my allowanse...

Why not to take Worlds to Europe, or give us European Championchips (We wouldn't need big prizes, in Euope the title is enough.)

Then somebody is going to quote my post and tell me that there is so little amount of players in Europe. My answer to that is: We can always think, why there isn't so much players? Worlds far away, every league and tournament shipments late for months ( i havent got yet my Boosters and Scolarship from Nationals 2009). European Chmpionships could be great way to sell pokemon in Europe, it would get more attention that Worlds 12000 km away.

Worlds in Hawaii is obserd. If it is going to be outside of the coastal US it might as well be out of the country period. Hawaii is a complettely stupid location, heck any Island is a stupid location (no offence Japan). When it's on an island everyone other that the locals have to fly in where as if it was in Europe, Asis, North America, or South America a lot of people would be able to drive in. I mean come on everything in Hawaii is outrageously priced. A customer where I worked who is from Hawaii said a 2 liter of Coca Cola cost $4 I mean that's at least 2.5x the price it is in the continental US. I checked on travelocity for a five day trip to Hawaii from Vegas and Berlin, Germany from Vegas and the cheapest hotel in Germany was only $250 or so dollars more which would probably be the money you would save on food and gas while there. Let's face it Vegas is an ideal location, people from around the world come hear on a regular basis all the time. There are quit a few hotels that are still kid friendly (Circus Circus, New York New York, and the Excalibur) plus at least then there are actually things for the parents to do and there are plenty of things for the older players to do (since lets face it, the oldest age group is and will probably always be the largest).

With all the things that POP has done recently (6 foreign card limit, banning drawn on and signed cards, Worlds in Hawaii again, making another set of marked sleeves, major rules changes the day of Worlds again) I can't see this game lasting much longer and I really hope it doesn't if they are going to continue to do things like this on a regular basis.

Vegas would be an awesome spot, I could stay at home and not even bother with a hotel mwahahaha. As for ArmoredMewtwo's comment, I've lived in Vegas most of my life (except for 5 of the years I lived in Idaho during high school and such). My point is, I've turned out fine, the worst thing that's happened to me is me tripping over my own feet and spraining my ankles. There are plenty of things for kids to do in Vegas as well as adults. Kids can go to the Adventuredome and go on rides. I think the Luxor has some kid friendly things, I haven't been there in years so IDK. I think we have a huge pizza place open for kids (and for me since I loved the arcade as a kid). I think there's still the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay and there's Gameworks. There are tons of kid activities in Vegas, trust me I know for a fact. I just don't do any of it since I have no job and can't afford to go anywhere.

Note: Sorry if this is too old of a topic, just thought I'd add my two cents in.
