Help with my Kyogre for JAA

Mmhmm, need some help with it. This is it currently:
Kyogre @ Shell Bell
Timid: 6 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Sp
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Thunder

Now before everybody freaks out with the ZOMG MORE THEN 1 TYPE ATTACK LOLOLOL NO! I'm going to say that actually 2 water type attacks IS the right play in this case being Surf and Hydro Pump. 2-2 is different then 1-1. You need Hydro Pump for pure power as it is raining and Surf for Shell Bell and hits both Pokemon while raining so the split damage doesn't hurt too much. Now, it's all fine IMO except for the fact I have no Protect which I noticed a little while ago. Protect is a sort-of needed move in 2-2 because of the common Explosion/Selfdestruct (Snor). Plus my team is a Explosion+Rain team and I now notice that my 2 starting Pokemon, if the Ghost I have dies then I'm going to get hurt by the other Pokemon being the exploder. I'll usually end up bring Kyogre in as to start rain and therefore setup for the whole rest of the team but if the Ghost dies b4 Explosion I need Protect. I don't want to bring up anybody but Kyogre really because Kyogre makes the whole team WORK so Kyogre therefore probably needs Protect. I'm keeping Hydro and Surf so should I drop Thunder or Ice Beam? Thanks, don't want to reveal my whole team sorry.

Surf is powerful enough and Hydro pump just isin't accurate enough to use IMO. Take that out for protect I guess...

EDIT: If you are not willing to take out Hydro or Surf, I guess drop the Ice beam.

I'd reccommend dropping Hydro Pump, Kyogre is usually strong enough to at least 2-turn kill most things. And are you sure you want a Timid Kyogre? If the opponent sends out a slower Groudon, you have some trouble.

Umm you should keep it that way
this is my kyogre stats:
Lv 100
Hold Item:Mystic Water
Hp:360
Attack:244
Defense:197
SP. Atk:345
SP.Def:316
Speed:235
Moves:
-Water Spout
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Sheer Cold
Nature:Mild

(do not jugde me by the way i think my pokemon moves are ok?)
I think you got some pretty good moves

This kyogre is EXACTLY like the one I'm making right now, in fact, I just finished EV training it last night. take off hydro pump, because with surf+stab+rain, it still equals a normal surf hit on each poke. and kyogre is uber enough to pull it off. If you take off hydro pump and add protect, you'll have my exact kyogre, nature, ev's, everything.

or like spoink said, you could always go with a fake out calm mind first turn, and sweep the rest of the time with surf/thunder.

Well, seeing as how you made it Timid and 252 EVs there isnt much you can do now. I say drop Either Surf or Hydro. Both have there usefullnesses and draw backs. Yes Surf has draw backs! First off in 2-2 it is Halved, with each half hitting 1 Opponent. Now Surf is base power of 95, with Rain Dance and Stab both adding 1.5 multipliers. Surf Power is now about 107 towards each opponent. Not bad, but also remember Pokes like Vaporeon can be healed instead of hurt. Hydro Pump only hits one Opponent, but looses Accuracy. 80 isnt bad, it still means 8 outta 10 times you will hit them, and an attack that dishes out 270 power to one Poke dents even a Ludicolo or Kindgra.

from what I witnessed, it seems better to keep Surf, and ditch Hydro Pump for Ky. Shiloh is right, with Ky his Special Attack is high enough to pull it off. My other suggestion is to catch/train a slower Ky. If I remember correctly, the weather ability of Groudon and Ky is based off their speed, meaning if Ky is slower, Drought will go off first, then Drizzle. A slow Kyogre still tremendiously out speeds Exeggutor and most Shiftry (they would ned a Speed Nature and near max Speed EVs and IV to out speed Ky). A Ky with a speed around 250 or 260 should be slow enough against good trainers, but Noobs with no clue on EVs you may still out speed. Ice Beam should kill either of these threats before they go off, and a Poke w/Swift Swim Hydro Pump can do major damage to Groudon as well

And Shiloh, thats my idea, not Spoinks (the Fake Out part!)

I hate all of you. =( Naww, <3. Anyways, Spectreon, you have alot of flaws in that post you may or may have not noticed. For example, your not going to be expecting a VAPOREON in this 2-2 metagame. I'm pretty comfedent overall since i'm in 12- and I'm probably like one of THREE kids or something that knows of EV, IVs, what natures do blah blah blah. But it's always good to be safe. Hydro Pump is UBER in 2-2 because of the rain. I mean, sometimes I'm just going to want to say "DIE NOT JUST DIE" to some Pokemon and Surf can't do that. Surf is really good, with Shell Bell and all but why are you guys dissin on Hydro Pump so much? I'm NOT dong Calm Mind in 2-2 and this is a thread on what I sohuld drop for PROTECT. I'm more sure on my Pokemon then most of you think. 2- turn kill doesn't really cut it sometimes. I mean, 2 hits for a KO can sometimes just mean you do damage and die. Hah. Anyways, could you guys give more reason? Surf can't kill everything and Hydro Pump fills in alot of weak spots of Surf. Whatever, LMK.

I think you are personally better off with Hydro + Protect.... Ky isnt very good when its dead, and it will die to Explosion almost every time (a base 250 power will that ya know...)
