Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

how has the recession impacted your ability to play the pokemon tcg?

...

it hasnt hurt me or my family bad but i cant travel and some pre are hard to do but i still am able to go so but i mean i have so many cards like claydols uxie and staple cards i dont need to buy cards just trade so im doing fine right now .

...no o_O im just gonna stop right there because God knows what you'll think if i keep on talking

I think I have found a sig quote there lol.

Back to the topic:
I still have gotten about the same amount of product, and since I run tournaments more than I play, it hasn't affected that much either. If I was playing more, it might impact how and where I go to play a bit, but can't say for sure until it happens.

For one, I don't go to prereleases much, and if I do, it's to judge. I hardly buy packs anymore, so most of the cards I get nowadays are from trading (although my brother does the trades). We usually save the staple cards asap, so we wouldn't have to worry later on. I'm considering on not going to the smaller events (such as BR's) in order to save more money. It hasn't really impacted me much.

I originally wasn't planning on attending nationals this year, but then my brother won a trip, so nothing was really affected.

NAH. It hasn't affected me yet. Everything around here is cheap anyways, so the recession hasn't affected anything around here, yet.

This is the first year I will likely miss Worlds. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I am definitely strapped for cash ha ha,

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

Yeah, Chris/Omar/I had to win a Regional trip or else we likely wouldn't be able to make it to Nats- we got extremely lucky and had Omar win a trip.

Cases or Boxes? Either way that is a lot of product and money!

No, no . . . he means cases, six boxes each. :nonono:

LOL

Strangely, I got a better paying and more stable job (and weekends off ) just as this recession hit, so I am actually spending more on cards than I had before (around $300 for each set).

none. Flights were cheaper this year, I make a bit more money than I did last year, I tutor Math = Money anyway. I'm fine only owning 2-4 Claydols at a time.

The recession has had zero impact on my ability to play the game. Actually, this year, I attended the largest number of Premier Events (9) that I have in the Nintendo era. Granted, this may be more due to my increasing independence, but since I was working as a Math Counselor at the University (and I'm somewhat frugal besides), the funds were not a problem. The fact that gas was less than $1.75/gallon during City Championship season was a plus too, since the closest events were 3 hours away from me.

Actually, it's interesting as the 8 Constructed Premier Events that I attended were more than the previous 4 years combined (7).
