If the contest is run the same way as last year, you will be told what cards you have access to, how many rares you can have, and if you can use Promos or not etc.

In fact, just look at some of the posts on there, starting around post 300 or so. You'll get a VERY good idea of what you're in store for with this thing.

You're right . . . anyone who didn't play last time should definitely take a look.

It's a lot of fun, but it's also very challenging and you have to be really switched on when it comes to the rules for each round.

I'd like to participate, though when does the majority of the contest take place? I'm going to be out of the country with limited computer access for the first two weeks in august.
