Magnezone and Dusknoir.. I think the only connection is that they are new-evos of older Pokemon as well as the same stage, with a lot of attention going to these kinds of Pokemn (just look at all the L.Xs made so far, MANY are of the same category) it is natural these lines would get a couple of varients. I would have expected a new non-X Rhyperior too.. especially given DP will probably rotate before LA but thus far it is not the case.

And yes FarFetch'd is pretty good in this set!
Maybe that means DP won't rotate for a while. I hope.

I get the rivalry that is between Mag and Vire. But because Mamgortar has got horrible stats in the DS games, I think he could have been as popular as Vire.

I do NOT get the connection between Zone and Nior, so could you explain that please?
Well, Electivire and Magmortar don't technically have any actual connection. They have been made to have one by the way they have had different iterations of each:
They both had their original DP forms
They both had Lv.X's in MT
They both got a new form in SW, which were also the structure decks.

Something similar has been happening with Dusknoir and Magnezone. The only difference is that the Lv.X's are released in two different sets, but they may even hold Magnezone Lv.X in America until the movie comes out in February, since Magnezone is in the movie. Other than that, same thing has been happening:
Both had their original DP forms
Both are having new forms in IFDS
Both are having other new forms in the IFDS theme decks.
Both are having Lv.X's
I am pretty sure we learned about both promo Magnezone and Dusknoir at the same time

I think Magmortar and Electivire's rivalry goes back to Red/Blue where they were these two pokemon that were tough and very similar, just different types. In Gold/Silver, they both got baby versions of them. In DP they both got evolutions at the same time too, and I think because they were so similar that rivalry has stayed throughout the ages.

Dusknoir and Magnezone don't really have any similarities other than both of them getting a third stage from DP. Duskull is from R/S and Magnemite is from R/B. Their types don't play on each other at all.

Just what I thought.

Still, I don't get why they killed the rivalry between Magmortar and Electivire by giving Magmortar horrible stats.

The least they could do is make Magmortar the Special Attack version of Electivire which they did not do because Magmortar got *** in Speed. This way, it's still a glass canon due to it's also horrible Defense stats.
Really, 67 Base Defense is LOW.
And just because it's got Flame Body to help him with that is not really all that great.

i think
heatran lv x + magmortar lv x

100 every other turn
and 80 every turn if u use the SW Magmortar Flame Blast

^ 80+ every turn. +30 auto-burn auto-tails... every turn.

Heatran Lv. X should be in just about every Magmortar Lv. X deck. They were made for one another.

water decks? BTW i can just see kingdra or AMU being faster than it.

(believe me 2 lvl X arent easy to get out. And then even if you do get them out, the decks next format are gonna be soooooooooO fast that they will simply KO mag X with ease)

Meh, that was just my observation. They just seem to get put together in a bunch of stuff. I don't know what the actual relation is, if any, that is just the idea got from it. Nice picture though. :thumb:

Water decks will have electric and grass decks to worry about.

Oh, believe me, I know. Especially with Heatran's mammoth retreat cost. Won't be the easiest deck to use. Promo Porygon Z could help, tho. Haha. A Stage 2 Starter.
