Internal clock death

I recently booted up my Ruby to find, to my sadness, that the internal battery has finally had it and died. :(

I read about a "time glitch" fix on Serebii but it didn't elaborate. What is the time glitch, does it have anything to do with the internal battery dying? I figure not, but I thought it would be better to be sure than not.

Is there anything you can do about the internal battery in Ruby and Sapphire?

It has happened on almost all ruby and sapphire games to my knowledge.

It's a conspiracy by nintendo to cut off how long youknow you play on ruby so you will never remember how it actually was. Then while we're confused, the games explode in a cloud of knock out gas and we're all kidnapped for programming classes to design new pokemon!

there was just a bug in the coding for Ruby and Sapphire for calculating the time, making it stop counting after 1 year. there's a firmware update patch on the Colluseum bonus disc, Pokemon Box, as well as Emerald and I think Fire Red and Leaf Green as well to fix it.

EDIT: from the FAQ on the Nintendo website:

1. How do I know if I need the Berry Update?
In Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, certain berry trees will stop producing berries after you've played your game for one year. All main game play activities, such as collecting and battling Pokémon, are not affected. If you want to keep the berries growing after a year of game play, please use the information below to find out how to update your game pak.

How do I get the Berry Update?
There are six different ways to make sure that your berry patches never dry up.

Add Jirachi to Your Team from your Bonus Disc
If you received the Bonus Disc that was available from participating retailers during the pre-sell of Pokémon Colosseum, you might be surprised to know that it contains a special gift -- Jirachi! You will automatically receive the berry patch upgrade when you use a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable to transfer Jirachi to your Pokémon Ruby or Sapphire Game Pak.

Play Pokémon Colosseum
You'll automatically receive the berry patch upgrade by using one of the connective features when you link Pokémon Ruby or Pokémon Sapphire to Pokémon Colosseum using a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable.

Connect to Pokémon Box
You'll automatically receive the berry patch upgrade by linking Pokémon Ruby or Pokémon Sapphire to Pokémon Box using a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable.

Connect to Pokémon FireRed, Pokmon LeafGreen, or Pokémon Emerald
You'll receive the berry patch upgrade by linking Pokémon Ruby or Pokémon Sapphire to Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon LeafGreen, or Pokémon Emerald using a Game Boy Advance Link Cable. Once they are connected, power on the "1P" system. When the Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen title screen appears, hold down the B Button and SELECT, then follow the instructions that appear on-screen.

awhhh- come on Kayle- you know the truth- you NEGLECTED those poor pokies and they ran off. And to pay you back- they drained the battery. :p

But is this the same thing as, when the game comes on, it says "The internal battery has died"?

Or is that a different, unreconcilable problem?

This happened to all the gold and silver games, right? the only thing to do is buy a new battery and replace it, I guess with a soldering(I can't spell) iron. But if you replace the battery, you will lose your data. At least, this is what I heard.

You would have to open the plastic casing on the game somehow and then put it back without deforming it. I really doubt that's possible at all.

Okay, guess I got what I needed to know. Thanks!

Yes it is possible.
I have done it for the older Pokemon games as well as a few Ruby and Sapphires before

It is indeed a completely different problem. :/

PROBLEM 1: My berries aren't growing! (No message given) SOLUTION: Berry glitch fix.

PROBLEM 2: My battery has died! (Message given) SOLUTION: Replace battery.

My Sapphire recently fell prey to the same fate. Unless you are good with welding/soldering/tinkering with tiny wires, there's really nothing you can do. And even if you do replace the battery, as said before, you lose your game data.

Really the only thing I can say is it's good that the 3DS will have DLC so that we can play Hoenn games without the battery dying.

^hmmmm- makes me wonder if it will be possable to internally trade pokies from a DLC pokie game onto B&W.......

Also, the only thing about the battery dying is that if ya REALLY want to- the save file will not save, leave on the game on using a wall jack to keep the game on, play away, have another game cart that has a good battery, and trade via cable- ect, ect.... you get where I am going.....

Alot of work if ya REALLY want to. (hard core gamer if you do!)

OR, hold a small ceramony for the death of your cartridge while you stick it in an electronic recycling bin and weap as you reflect on the fun memories you had playing and battleing.

^ I would imagine so. I would think that having a game in the DLC would be considered the same as having it in the slot. :/ If that's not the case, this is going to be a horrible transition.

he's right i saw it on dateline

It's nowhere near dead, it just makes berries a pain and means I can't get Espeon and Umbreon in 3rd gen. << That's about it.
