Welcome Marsh, we haven't heard from you since...well never mind! :D

On to the topic, I myself will not be in a hurry to see what PUI wants outside the US and like the others said, we can run something without depending on PUI in a greatest way possible at the shortest possible time. Neutral Grounds (our local store) have ordered the kits several weeks ago and having a hard time getting them they themseleves wanted the game grow but they said it themseleves that the Nintendo's Int'l OP is quite unstable and we are advised to keep the game going and get any info on the players for tourney announcements sponsered by them or even from Nintendo. But it does not mean we don't get frustrated about what's happening. Still Nintendo must be sensitive about all issues concerned before PUI or any of the them to become "too late a hero."

I also agree to some that we must not rely to them (Nintendo) to do things fast for OP and leagues. We are still the ones to make the grow in our own way. This is a call to all (not to arms :p ) to try the best they can do....nothing more. :)

I would also like us to consider just how crdible POP is? The rankings seem wrong, every event appears to have a k value of 32, regardless of size and who judges, DCI reporter is openly used as TMS is just awful, results are not reported, TO's can and do play in their own tourneys, the rules and rulings are not enforced and cheating and collusion is openly practiced and PUI doesn't appear to have a problem with that!

How can there be any credible worlds in an atmosphere like that?

Another nice thing we just verified.
A shop overhere has leaguepromocards in a book selling them by single.(Yes mudkip, treecko, dark nrg)
They told us they are not running a league and get them for free from the National Distributor. Yek Yek Yek.
Thats were the leaguekits stay, not send to the players who deserve them, but at stores to increase their sales.

Don't tell me anymore the distributor has to pay for leaguekits I don't believe that anymore, even that I don't believe that they have to pay for support for Premier Events.

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I wanted to give everyone an update here. I am composing e-mails to PUI (NY) and TPC regarding
this matter.

Rest Assured that this matter will be addressed.

Prosperous Regards,

I hope I will stay in contact with all European Profs and organizers, because together we can build up our own UNOFFICIAL worlds.

Sure, I am ready to start an European Championship.......
What do you think about this?

Marsh, great you are doing this again.
You wanted everyone to join forces but that will never happen as long as the differences are so big.
At least I hope to work out something with the remaining Profs in Europe, because we are not wanted by PUI and the distributors.

Prof Donphan.
I'm thinking about on on-line playable version of the Pokemon TCG with a format we make up by ourselves. (apprentice is not giving acces to everyone and not really the way I would like to play, to much ways you can cheat)
This plan is for a part worked out already and we thought about having on-line tournaments and giving new players a way to learn this game. For skilled people like profs our others a change to pass their knowlegde, but also keeping the small European playerbase concentrated and organized.
this game is not growing National than we better find each other somewere in (european of worldwide) cyberspace to play the game we like.
If there are enough people interested a live league (club)will follow our of that and if not than still we have nothing to loose.
But to save whats left of this game something has to change. Because we all live to far away from each other so live play becomes almost impossible.
This will not change, it didn't in the past and it will not in the future as long players on the field are ignored.

My guess is that the exp-sky block will move out after Worlds and I don't like it.
Boosters are so much manipulated that it's almost impossible (to expensive) for all player to catch up with the official format and create a strong deck.
Sunday we are discussing with the 5 Dutch Profs what course we will follow.
We want our players to join the Nationals, but after this we are not following the official format anymore that's for sure.
We like to re-introduce teamplay again, because that's a nice thing to do.
Also theme tournaments.

For our country I already started a National language website with were to find unofficial pokemonclubs, formats, cardtranslations (the right ones) and a cardfinder and deckbuilder.
Nothing is finished yet because it's a lot of work but someday it will be. We just have waited to long hoping the transition to Nintendo would give us a better base of OP.

Next weeks I'm going to spend a lot of time on translations and I'm thinking of making the website in 2 languages so that other European profs can join us and translate it in their language to.
I'm not going to wait untill distributors meaby need us. We offered help, they refused, so they do it their way and we on our own.

Today I got a reply from PUI... and I am perplexed? They seem to be back peddling on the last email and the ban on posting the contents of their email is altered somewhat?

I need to digest the contents a little as I am confused to say the least... I am still angry mind you but now confused as well.. More as I get my brain round this...

Oh and if they do want to throw me off the programme it would help if they spelt my name right.. I mean Ben how hard is that?

Okay I have revisted the email, taken advice from that bastion of sense and reason NoPoke and had a really good cup of tea.

So the email I just got from PUI seems to confirm the following:

* I can't show you the contents or post any part fo the contents of their emails.

* I can show you the contents and/or post any part of their emails where they are a direct response to questions.

* I can't show the contents of their emails in whole or in part but I can paraphrase them.

Given that the entire correspondance started in response to direct questions I think I can share them with everyone. BUT given that I have also been threatened with expulsion from the programme if I do that, what can I do? Confused? I am .. can I therefore ask that anyone who would like to see the full correspondance with PUI from the first email I sent to the last one I received email me and I will send you a copy of the emails marked 1 to 5 in the order they should be read.

I would at this point also like to point out that we in the UK have a good working relationship with the Distributors Day to Day representatives with regard to OP and League Play but that there are some things that cannot be answered at that level and they concern all of us International Professors and Master Professors.

I believe that there must be a dialogue set up between PUI and us to answer these questions and it is with that in mind that I agreed to collate and email our questions to them. I hope we can still get that dialogue going and that we will then not need to set up our version of the Star Wars Players Committee.

So if you want to see the correspondance from 1st to last so far email me.

Every time I visit these boards, I read something that makes me want to bash my head into a wall.

They can't post their answers to your perfectly normal questions which should have been on FAQs or at least chat logs here and there? *cough*Wizards chat*cough* And after they asked 'Pro to gather questions in? What IS THIS?

Hello Team Europe:

As Promised, below is my letter to Bruce Loeb, that is going out this morning:

Prosperous Regards,

Marsh Schneidau

17, March 2004

Mr. Bruce Loeb, Director of Marketing
C/O Pokemon USA, Inc.
New York, New York 10017

Dear Mr. Loeb:

With Pokemon continuing to enjoy success on multiple areas, across the broad based spectrum of the brand, as a whole, there lies an area of this brand, which is at a very vulnerable point at present. This facet of the brand, the Pokemon Trading Card Game, while enjoying success on the North American continent, is being challenged world-wide, and player and professors outside the North American region diligently work to keep the game alive in their respective regions.

Mr. Loeb, upon speaking with you personally about the significance of the Trading Card Game and its correlation with the rest of the brand, my assessment is that the general perception of the Pokemon Trading Card Game outside North America was that of support by both The Pokemon Company, Pokemon USA, Inc, and Nintendo.

An “Organized Play” program was implemented, and, while showing signs of growing pains, here in North America, players here are generally pleased with the direction the game has been taking, and recent attendance figures for the Team Magma/ Team Aqua pre-release held in various locations both here and outside the US, are further proof that this game, is once again gaining momentum in North America.

It is a much different story in regions outside of North America, where, especially in Europe, things are promised, and seldom are delivered on. While the scope of International Distributors being tied into Organized play, especially in Europe, seems sound, the reality of this marketing approach is quite different. While I understand, that the staff in Pokemon USA, Inc. office is limited, and the best job is being done with available resources. I am perplexed as to why the Director of International Organized Play, is stationed in Washington State and not in Europe. Mr. Loeb, I direct your attention to the following link: http://www.pokegym.net/showthread.php?t=4684 , this is on a popular message forum, where many players from around the world post their thoughts, and ideas. This link is a thread, where the director of International OP, Jared Nack, requested “feedback”. What has been stated, in my assessment, requires immediate attention to preserve the cohesion of the International player contingent, especially in Europe.

Mr. Loeb, please understand, I only desire to see this game thrive in all parts of the world, as it is one of the best games out there, even in the midst of all the completion. Some suggestions, that would improve and strengthen the international contingent are as follows:
1. Work with Nintendo offices worldwide with regards to distribution of the Pokemon Trading Card Games, for the respective regions in Europe and elsewhere. Leaving OP and distribution up to independent distributors who have little or no interest in the game, much less OP, doesn’t bode well for the future of OP internationally.
2. Work Closely with professors in the European regions, as they have put their heart and soul into this game, and much of their OWN resources without ANY type of SUPPORT from the “local” distributor.
3. Implement a system for “Pokemon Judges” on a Worldwide Basis, which includes a comprehensive test on game mechanics, rules and other aspects of the game.
4. Develop a user-friendly reliable tournament software program that allows for flexibility with each subsequent release, and permits the user to tailor the software in a limited extent to the requirements of his or her league and/or tournament location.
5. Expand the marketing budget to include the world outside North America where this game currently has a presence, and provide incentives for those existing players/professors to introduce new players to the game.

Mr. Loeb, I am very passionate about what this brand has done for me as an individual, and, as such, will do whatever I can, to assure its continued success both in North America and Worldwide. There are vast numbers of players outside of North America, that are just as passionate about this game, as myself. They feel right now, that they are not “wanted” and that the mission of this game and of PUI is solely to market this game in North America. It saddens me greatly to hear these sentiments coming from these players/professors that have and continue to work so tirelessly to promote the game in there respective regions, with little, or in some cases, NO support from PUI.

Mr. Loeb, I in speaking with you numerous times, both over the phone, and most recently in person, I know that yourself and your staff, are committed to the long-term success of this brand. The Trading Card Game, in my assessment, and in the minds of many others, is STILL the best out there; I welcome the time soon, when people from all over the globe can enjoy this game regardless of the part of the world from where they reside.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Prosperous Regards,

Rewa Marsh Schneidau

Marsh, did you post the adress per accident?
We are thinking of sending a petition of all our players + parents with request for equal changes, so is this adress meaby the one we need??????

I've just read the emails Ukpokemonpro hasn't sent me :D

Actually, I don't see anything new as ... there is nothing new.
I think that we can say :
1 we are working on International POP and things have already been done (like Prereleases)
2 we are working on the Prof Program
3 we are working on the International website
4 please contact your local distributors and not PUI
5 the email channel Ukpokemonpro/PUI is open once a week for Interantional concerns
6 please continue to support the local distributors by giving them positive support and feed-back
7 if you have problemes with your distributor, these problems have to be solved with the distributor who has the full support of PUI

I have no doubt about the fact that PUI's working on all these things (but results are shown very slowly  )
The link 'field/distributor' is what PUI want from the beginning, like our support to the distributors and the 'full authority' that local distributors have in their country.

If we go back to the original questions :
1 When will their be one worldwide harmonized OP structure so that all players in the world can experience; the same premier tournament structure, with the same regulations and the same prize structure? Is there a way to make distributors stay on track? How can we help?
Answer : points 1 and 6

2 Some countries have a low number of certified and/or good judges distributors are not always using those that do exist. What are PUI and the distribnutors doing about growing the number of qualified knowledgeable judges and TO's? When will the professor test be back up and the professor program restarted?
Answer : point 2

3 What should we do, if a National Distributor is not answering your email and doesn't want to have contact with you? What happens when they refuse your request to take part in the league program? What do we tell the 100 players turning up regularly to your "unsupported, unofficial league"?
Answer : points 6 and 7

4 Can the floor rules be more specific on who is an appropriate TO and how as a TO you determinate a skilled judge? Will they be re-written to include a strong prefernce/ mandatory requirement for a Professor and/or Master Professor depending on the type of event. EG. a requirement that Premier Events use only Professors and Master Professors as TOs and Head Judges.
Answer : no answer (I suppose the answer is 'no, everything is clear enough')

5 Some distributors have shown a reluctance to communicate with the Professors and TOs in their region, often because of their lack of knowledge distributors are making mistakes. What are PUI doing to encourage the distributors to talk with the TOs and Professors that cover their region?
Answer : points 6 and 7

PUI clearly stay on their position and say something like : local distributors are PUI representatives in their country and if they say something, PUI will (publicly ?) say the same and give them right.

My conclusion ?
PUI has chosen a way in the beginning and they do, and will not change.
The only thing we have to do is :
- try to work with our distributor (if possible) and hope they'll listen to what we say to improve POP in our countries, if not there's nothing else to do (maybe try lot of emails from different people about the same problem ?).
- wait for info and action from PUI about International POP (league and events), Prof Program and PUI's website

I would not say that PUI don't want us, I'd rather say that they want us the way they've always done.
And I believe we're clearly in a 'take it or leave it' situation.

I get the impression that PUI want us like a old school general wants cannon fodder.. Expendable, Necessary, but not the 'sort' you associate with.

A part of it sounded like I was hearing our distributor talk.
Exactly the same words.

You two are obstructing and sabotaging this game.
OF course we are, we have growing clubs, lots of tournaments a few of the best players in the world, but that is called obstructing this game.
Do you still understand, Now I do.
You all forgot the part of people are going to be removed from the program.
If you don't know who are meant by those I can open your eyes it's Henna and Lia from the Netherlands.

LOL we have never been in, so how would they kick us out.

Sorry I couldn't let it to post this. LOL

rainbow you aren't alone... each time I read the emails I would become more enraged. Nothing but threats that we will be removed from the programme.
