Interracial Couple Denied Marriage License

Maybe he's spent too much time breeding teams on Pokemon Video Games and thinks they're from different egg groups?

EDIT: The above comment is meant entirely in jest and in no way is it an attempt to insinuate that the author agrees with the sentiments endorsed by the individual in question.

Marriage seems like a social institution, and should be given out by churches and the like.

I'd rather see everyone have some sort of partnership recognized, for the ease of property/rights management, but we don't need any kind of special distinction between genders.

Would make it more fair, wouldn't it?

I get taxed so much more for being married than my mom does seeing as she lives with her boyfriend and gets the whole 'single mom' status... when really she's not single per se.

I think it has to do with property / monetary rights issues. That way there's some kind of legal contract to follow up on in case of death / divorce and who gets the money or property between the two. Some people (like C.S. Lewis) have made arguments that government marriages and church marriages should be separate but mutually recognized tho. Personally tho I agree I don't see why the government needs to be involved in marriages either but who knows the government gets involved in every aspect of your life anymore...
