iPod Touch 5

After months of waiting, the iPod Touch 5 has finally been announced, and I'm really excited as it will be my first iPod or Apple product. It will be available in black or white, 8 gb , 32 gb and 64 gb capacities are available. It will run iOS 5 and probably use the A4 processor (same as 4th gen). It will be available for purchase on October 12th. The 8 gb model also has a lower entry level price of 199 USD.

Now that the newsflash is over.

Who else is going to buy it? And why? What are you looking forward to?

I've also got some questions. Does it make a difference whether the iPod is black or white? Would it affect the light sensor and the camera due to white being light-reflective and black being light-absorbing?

Discuss.

Both the iPhone 4S and the iPod Touch 5 were announced to have different upgrades. The iPhone is getting a specs upgrade (mainly the processor and camera) while the iPod is getting a new coat of paint and a new OS. It's still the same machine inside. There's a good comparison here: http://www.technobuffalo.com/companies/apple/ipod/ipod-touch-5-vs-ipod-touch-4-spec-shootout/

Apple only announced that the 4S would have the A5. I'm not sure why this is, but it may simply be because the iPod didn't need it.

So, seems like the iPod Touch 5 is probably going to have an A4 processor, I really hope it gets A5 but so far, evidence points to A4, that's pretty sad. If it gets the A5 chip I'll go for the new one, if not, I'll probably go for the 4th gen as there would probably be a 50 AUD difference between the two different generations of 32 gb.

They have said before many times that they will not add Flash support because it will drain battery far too quickly but you can purchase web browsers that do support them such as SkyFire and Puffin.

Normally I would be considering an iPod Touch upgrade (mine's like Gen 2), but since Sprint will now carry iPhones, gonna wait till my upgrade option kicks in next summer and get one of those instead.

I think many are realizing Apple products lost their punch. The android system has become far superior, especially with the new Droid Bionic.

Uh what? Explain why Android makes up so little of the market then; granted Apple had a big head start since they essentially brought the whole touchpad and touchphone markets into prominence, but considering there's essentially only 2 big operators for mobile OS (iOS and Android), why are people still flocking to iPhones and iPads then? They're obviously doing something better...not to mention the larger proliferation of apps too.

No iPod Touch 5, iPod Touch 4 colour upgrade only

For those who haven't realized already, there is no iPod Touch 5, just the same iPod Touch 4, the differences being the new white colour option and iOS 5 pre-installed. BTW, I got my iPod about a week ago. Anyone have any good apps they'd like to share. I've already got the obvious ones such as Angry Birds, Cut The Rope, Doodle Jump, etc. What are some hidden gems?

Plants vs Zombies and Chuchu Rocket are some of my other favorites. NBA Jam is a blast as well if you ever played the series, not too bad on the iPod.

Will the newer iPod Touch 4 be able to use SiriVoice then?

I think that's iPhone only, though I could be wrong, I just remember hearing it was iPhone only.

I updated my Ipod Touch 4th gen to Ios 5, so far, nothing grounbreaking as far as I'm concerned. I didn't have any of the problems others have reported having with their updates.

It's got some features that could be helpful to some people (If I knew anybody else with Ios 5, it would help) but the only thing I really enjoy is the updated Safari.

Thats not the reason for excluding flash.

Of course not. Apple is playing rogue. (see what I did there?$

Android, little? It's 43.1% versus 34.1%. Source here. iOS is bigger, but Android still has a substantial chunk of the market. I don't have a statistic handy, but in terms of what is being bought, not what is out there, Android is beating Apple, so expect that gap to continue shrinking.

iOS does have over twice as many apps as Android, though.
