Hello fellow gymers, welcome to the 1st round of the Iron Chef 2012/13. Lets hope this competition is fun, aggressive, challenging, and a good way to learn and be a better player.

This 1st round will be a simple round, not a hard challenge, not much in terms of a ban list. The 1st challenge is a stepping stone to get you on your feet, but as each round progresses, it will get harder and harder to do.

Here are some simple live by rules of this challenge. Utilize the card or challenge sequence to the fullest. Make sure you have 60 cards in the deck. We had a problem with this last tournament, but I was nice and allowed people to fix their mistakes. This will not be happening anymore. Make sure, before you send me the entry, that it has 60 cards(unless challenge state otherwise), your challenge card is there being used, it has a STRATEGY. Those are some simple rules to live by, if there is no strategy, there is no grade. Even if it is a small strategy, it is a strategy nonetheless, so make sure ti is there. If you feel like really explaining your deck thoroughly, I will be happy to read it and fact encourage it. Tell me with your words EXACTLY what I am looking at.

So those were some basic rules, and guidelines at which you should adhere. If those requirements are not meant, there will be NO score. With prizes on the line, it should matter.

FORMAT is BW-on.
METAGAME is current meta.

BAN LIST(cards at which you are not allowed to use)
-Any EX's other than the challenge card.
-Pokemon Catcher
...short list, but a ban list either way.

POD 1 CHALLENGE

POD 2 CHALLENGE
Groudon EX

POD 3 CHALLENGE
Kyogre EX

POD 4 CHALLENGE
Registeel EX

Again, pay attention to the ban list, look at what format it is, and use the info I gave you in regards to what the metagame is. Be consistent, show creativity, and actually use the card for your challenge.

Does the meta you are playing in contain the Ban cards, though YOU cannot use them? This is relevant to whether you can build a deck with a critical supporting bench sitter or not.
 
The metagame unless stated otherwise is the current metagame with no bans. Your challenge has a ban format.

Curry, the only EX you are allowed to use is the challenge is the EX your pod has as a challenge.
 
Will we be playing these decks in a tournament fashion or are we just making the deck? I want to know if we will play people from other pods or just our pod.
 
Darkrai, woah. Despite (because of) how good it is, it's going to be hard to be original and creative.

Vaporeon, for now it is swiss, you will not be playing someone from another pod until top cut.

It´s my first iron chef, so how does this work?
I send you my list and strategy, and after that i have to play each person of my pod or what?
Is my goal to beat the other registeel players with no exes and catchers or to stand up against the current meta?

Good question, it really is a simple tournament. For now, during swiss rounds, you will be creating a deck based on whatever the challenge is, using creativity, consistency, and card use you will make a deck and submit it to me via PM. You for now, are competing for a top 8 in your pod by a point system. Ill grade your entry and the other entries. That's basically it...for now

You misunderstood my question but indirectly answered it. Just to clarify, when building our deck, we should assume that the decks we will be playing against will be able to play catcher and any ex they want to, correct?

So yes, they are able to to play catcher and ex's. Due note though guys, your deck isn't SUPPOSED to be beat EVERY deck in the format, it just has to be able to compete and have the capability of winning.

Tropical beach is allowed if the current format allows it. Whatever cards your are able to play in real tournaments, you can play it here.

Just to be clear, we should make our deck as if our opponent is able to use catchers and all the EX's? Sorry for the confusion.
