IRON MAIDON

POKEMON (16):

3 Clampearl (evolution)
3 Gorebyss (beatdown)
3 Scizor Ex (beatdown)
3 Scyther (evolution)
4 Dunsparce (draw)

TRAINER (28):

3 Prof. Elm's Research (draw)
3 Pokémon Retriever (enable)
4 Swoop Teleporter (enable)
3 Steven's Advice (draw)
3 Mary's Request (draw)
3 Power Roots (enable)
3 Mt. Moon (disables)
3 Tv Reporter (draw)
3 Copycat (draw)

ENERGY (16):

8 Psychic Energy
4 Metal Energy
4 Multi Energy

MAIN IDEA:

The deck above is a classic evil knievel beatdown swarm. Have Scizor Ex out turn two and start to stall with the metal tank while the bench is filled with Gorebyss and another Scizor Ex. Power Roots is used to boost the Gorebyss line to enable one to obtain one more hit out of them before it hits the discard itself. Since Gorebyss has no special abilities the drawback does not hurt it at all. Gorebyss seemed like a natural choice in this deck since it covers the fire weakness and can abuse the colorless attack costs on Scizor Ex. Furthermore it works rather nice in the middle of a match or even later when Scizor could have troubles to knock out the Pokémon on the other side in one hit.

SPOILER:

Scizor Ex
Stage one Metal Pokémon
Hit Points: 120
Poke-Body: Hunch
If Scizor Ex's Hit Point is 60 or less, all of Scizor Ex's attacks do an additional 40 damage to the
defending Pokémon.
[MC] Steel Wing: 40
During your opponent's next turn, all damage done to Scizor Ex by attacks is reduced by 20.
[CCC] Throw Down: 50
If the defending Pokémon is an evolved Pokémon, this attack does 50 damage plus an additional 30 damage.
Retreat Cost: C
Weakness: R
Resistance: G

Scyther
Basic Grass Pokémon
Hit Points: 60
[C] Clone
Search your deck for up to two Scyther or Scyther Ex and put them on your bench. Shuffle your deck afterwards.
[CC] Agility: 20
Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Scyther during your opponent's next turn.
Retreat Cost: C
Weakness: R

Mary's Request
Trainer - Supporter
Draw a card. If you don't have any stage two Pokémon in play, draw two more cards.

Prof. Elm's Training Methods
Trainer - Supporter
Search your deck for an evolution card, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

Power Roots
Trainer - Pokémon Tool
The Pokémon that this card is attached to has its max Hit Points increased by 20. The Pokémon that this card is attached to can't use Poké-Powers or Poké-Bodies. This card can't be attached to a Pokémon that already has a tool attached to it. This card can't be attached to Pokémon Ex, Dark Pokémon, or Pokémon with an owner it its name. If this card becomes attached to one of those Pokémon, discard it.

I would wait until the set is actually out before making decks.Gorebyss might not even be in the new format when the rotation comes.Btw did this name come from MegaMan X Command Mission?

I think it came from the band, Iron Maiden... lol

And, the deck looks solid! But, of course, this deck'll depend on how the sets rotate... Then again, you could be from another country outside the US, where there is a totally different mode of modified or whatever... lol

And, yes, i DID know what an actual Iron Maiden was, i just thought that'd be most obvious to OTHER people, lol...

Hi Moltres,

The set has been released here. We use Japanese cards and follow the Japanese system over here. Thus Gorebyss is still available to me. The deck name comes both from the band and the device.

Hi Invader-ZIM,

We follow the Japanese strukture here and thus the cards are released and the older sets are not rotated out thus far. You are entire correct on the deck name. It is based both on the device and the band. I will leave it open whether Scizor or Gorebyss is he actual maiden . The iron one is a given.

Hi DarkmasterchrisEX,

Thanks for the review. Have not seen the refered deck. The name seemed to fit since Scizor Ex is steel and once he is hurt he starts to hit them even harder.

Hi dld4a,

Thanks for the review. Not sure about the switch from multi to double rainbow since double rainbow reduces the amount Gorebyss would be able to dish out and it cannot be attached to Scizor Ex. The attack costs on both lines are rather low and thus should not slow the deck down too much.

is stevens too risky for you now? 1-6 card draw, but it depends on their situation, while mary is a straight 3 draw..

i would think if you like guaranteed shots you'd use POR and not copycat.

Hi shiftrymaster68,

In adddition to the weakness coverage Scizor Ex runs on colorless and can thus be fueled with Psychic which in turn fueles Gorebyss.

Hi ryanvergel,

The deck uses Steven's Advice and Mary's Request. Have a close look at the deck list since there are three each. I like a more diverse draw arsenal over a maxed out but one sided one.

nice job making a deck that uses cards that come out in 2 sets... too bad it also uses cards that will be rotated out by then.

maybe we should focus a little more on emerald.... yea

Maybe not all people run by the american format and use american cards. Some run by a japanese format instead  .

I like the deck Dark Umbreon, with Gorebyss to cover the weakness. But maybe you should use a water Pokemon thats weak to grass, so Scizor can cover the water Pokemon like it cover's him. I'm sure a good water type will come out by then. How do you think this deck will do against Feraligatr Ex, thats going to be rough match for all decks. That card will probably change the metagame.

Hi Cross Fire88,

Thanks for the review. Please let me know in case there is a decent water Pokémon with Grass weakness out there at the moment. Since we run on a japanese environment here we now have these cards at our disposal. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

Not sure on the match versus Feraligatr Ex at the moment. The advantage of this deck would be the minimal reliance on Poké-Power and Poké-Bodies. However, the loose of the one on Scizor Ex could hurt a little. The main benefit of this deck in said match would be the lower resource requirement and the increased speed of this deck compared to Feraligatr Ex.

Actually why not magneton instead of gorebyss, they essentially do the same thing, except mag helps kill gatr and zappy.

Scratch that, it got me thinking though. There are tons of better attackers than gorebyss right now, considering it's really just a 50 for three. There's pokemon like manetric that can do more damage, and wipe out ludicolo which I hear is a popular deck right now.
