Is the matchmaking broken?

Hello, I've decided to get back into Pokemon TCG faster after 6 or 7 years, especially because of the TCG online.

I bought the XY YYveltal Destruction Rush deck, When I go online to play the TCG I go into random battle, practice and pick my theme deck but when I hit play now it says waiting for response and it stays there.

Is there something else I've suppose to do? Thanks
 
Can someone address this? I really want to make sure the match making is working before I invest in the game again.
