Is there any point to Phone numbers?

I mean Joey must have failed to catch a HootHoot like 35 times....and I stopped caring on the 20th time...
I let one person have my number, then remembered why I hated it in Gold years ago.

So is there ANY advantage to having people's numbers?
 
If you register some NPC's numbers, they will tell you when a rare Pokemon is able to be found in the wild and get a couple of items from fishing, I believe.
 
another thing is a number of them will also start offering you rematches later in the game.

and rattata's that are in the top percentage of rattata

at least you don't actually have to answer the calls this time around...

I beat Bugsy, and this guy calls me for the 4th time saying I GOTTA get to rounte 31 ASAP.

back through the cave and lots of grass and two cities to get to a guy who's hyped out of his mind for this item he found just for me...

I am the proud new owner of aspear berry. Ya know since so many Pokemon this early one Freeze me.....

I've found, the further you get in the game, the items she buys for you DO turn out to be pretty useful. Especially if you want to get into competitive Pokemon battles.

I would not say that. the type-resist berries are great against your rival/antagonist as he will always have the type to beat you.

And also, when you get focus sash, choice scarf, etc. from your mom - she becomes very useful.

i know, i wish we could actually say stuff.

Mom: sweety, i just bought you this great item with your money, the delivery man at the pokemart and the dept. stor has it for you.

Me: mom, i'm right now at the radio tower which team rocket took over. i'm too busy kicking butt and taking names, and i'm all out of gum, so you can guess how enthused i am. bye

that was me about 5 times....in a total of 15 min. that and people always ask the same questions (joey: are you sleeping in? 20 min. later...Joey: are you sleeping in?) to some extent, the calls are pointless, but i love when i'm called for a battle, remind them noobs who's boss.
 
I would be like:

Me: Oh sweet! I really am so excited for my special oran berry, so i can restore... NO GAWD, ITS MY MONEY, MINE, ALL MINE!!!!!
 
You all know that you DO NOT have to answer the phone, and you will still get the item? I cannot remember the last time i listened to her. I just pick up the items.
 
Some trainers like the Youngster with the Ratatta and the Sailor in the Lighthouse with two Poliwhirls will give you items after a rematch. I got an HP Up from Joey and Protein from Sailor (I think Huey) from the Lighthouse. So free training items are a nice bonus from the Pokegear. Other then that I just rematch with the gym leaders.

skool kid alan and the lass on the way to olivine give you stones. the lass more so than alan, alan is right outside the national park to the east.

Yeah, I've gotten all of them except Lt. Surge's and Blue's. Those are the two that I'm missing. It's a great way to level up Pokemon getting ready for Red.

My mom got me a Focus Sash but lately I've only been getting Berries from her. :confused:

I like the resist berries, never could be bothered collecting them before so it's nice she sends em. Shame she won't send some bloody Oran ones though...that Miltank is still sick and I still can't buy any Moo Moo Milk way back in the beginning since she only ever sent like 3 of them, and there aren't any berry trees anymore like in the original, so I have no clue how/where to get them (not that I've looked that hard anyways...).

I also got a Sash and Choice Scarf, the Scarf was especially useful.

I healed mine with oran berries i got from my pokewalker.
