I just found out that my order of two boxes of Dark Explorers is being Delayed til Sunday.(how can a product release on a sunday?) The site, which I will not mention(I'm sure you can figure it out if need be) has plenty of 'single cards' already available. Yet for some reason, they are unable to ship to me my sealed product, citing delayed release dates given to them by the manufacturer. If they ripped all the boxes it took to create that mass of single cards, shouldn't they have been able to ship my 2 measly boxes of sealed product? Are all websites and stores being told "Do not sell sealed product til sunday"? I bought this stuff at Walmart last week! Any of you experiencing similar problems? Vent here.

If they ripped all the boxes it took to create that mass of single cards, then no, they probably won't be able to ship your 2 boxes until more product comes in.

I'm a little peeved by this too, since I ordered a box from the same site you're talking about. At the same time, I understand that they're running a business. They didn't order too much product in case they couldn't turn it fast enough. As long as I get the box before Battle Roads start, I'll be happy.

Thats partly my point though. They ripped open a bunch of boxes, have a glut of product, and are now unable to ship the product THAT WAS ACTUALLY PAID FOR ALREADY! (not yelling at you, just yelling:mad:) And then, they tell me the manufacturer MADE them delay shipment of the product. I don't see any other sites being forced to delay shipments of sealed product.

I also "ACTUALLY PAID FOR" the 4x Tornadus EX and 2x Raikou EX I ordered. The shipped my singles first (already have them), and my box is coming next Monday or Tuesday. I can't complain.

Also, the "manufacturer delay" is a generic response used by pretty much every single online ordering website when they don't have product in stock. They're not actively trying to lie to you. (It's just like how people's voicemails say "I'm not here right now, please leave a message," even if they're there and just don't want to pick up the phone. It's a generic message, that person isn't trying to lie to you. Don't read too much into it.)

You say they already shipped your single cards. By that logic, then your box, as well as mine should have shipped as well. I have no problem with the filling of pre-orders being done first. That would be unreasonable. My problem is the "cherry picking" nature involved in choosing which orders to fill. They didn't open the boxes, find enough stock to fill the single orders, then ship the pre-ordered boxes. They didn't even go thru the mentioned operation, open some arbitrary amount of product, then start filling box orders. They basically, by interpretation of their actions, decided to give the ol' one finger wave to anyone who decided to circumvent the outrageous pre-order singles frenzy and actually buy sealed boxes. How many Cases would you have to crack to produce 71 fa Darkrai ex? Around 40-50? At least.

YOU, may not be without; but not everyone who paid for product, got it. Just because"it's what they did", doesn't make it sound business practice. They may not be actively trying to lie, but thats what they did.

No... that doesn't quite logically connect. They shipped my single card pre-orders. That doesn't logically imply that the should have shipped my box as well.

That's what they're doing. They're filling out their pre-orders first. This is the order they're probably doing it in:
  1. Pre-order single cards
  2. Pre-order boxes
  3. Regular orders placed after May 9th
My problem is the "cherry picking" nature involved in choosing which orders to fill.

They have to fill their orders in some order. If you're not happy with how they treated your order, you can try to contact them, or just buy from another website. I, however, have found my shopping experiences with this company to be very pleasant, even though my box may come a couple days later than I had hoped.

They basically, by interpretation of their actions, decided to give the ol' one finger wave to anyone who decided to circumvent the outrageous pre-order singles frenzy and actually buy sealed boxes.

And if I were someone who paid $80 to pre-order a single card, and the company didn't fill my order first, I would be outraged. I paid $80 of a single card! Why on earth is the company showing preferential treatment to those cheapskates who didn't want to spend the money for a card I paid a lot of money for?

Now, I didn't pre-order any Darkrai EX from this particular website (I ordered mine for $30 from another site), but I hope you see that there's two sides to every argument. It would be equally outrageous to someone who paid $80 for a card if their order didn't get shipped first.

YOU, may not be without; but not everyone who paid for product, got it. Just because"it's what they did", doesn't make it sound business practice. They may not be actively trying to lie, but thats what they did.

Wait, it's entirely possible that they ordered 200 cases of cards, and only the first 100 cases arrived. How do you know that it's not a delay on the manufacturer's side? You have no evidence to prove for sure that they're lying to you. You're just a little angry that they're not running their business in a way that you want them to run it. Guess what? Their business isn't to cater to your individual needs.

I'm sorry if this isn't what you want to hear. I think that you were assuming people would sympathize with your situation, and I'm sure some other people will. I'm just giving my honest opinion about your situation.

I would just like to add to the post above. The website I ordered my box product from stated on their front page 2 weeks ago that their supply order of DE was cut in half (supposedly not enough product was printed or ready for the sizable demand for it) and they stopped all pre orders until they could secure more product (which they did but wouldnt get it until after DEs release date of May 9th. Also the site that you two are talking about had blisters for order but only a small amount and I ordered 24 of those and they shipped just fine- but I had a problem with ND where I pre ordered sealed product from them and inquired about why my order didnt ship and they cancelled my order and reinstated an order that only included non- ND product and shipped it without my asking them to.

While I understand that there are many reasons why an order can get delayed, it doesn't take away from the frustration when you are waiting to receive items before a certain date. Especially when you drop alot or are expecting alot.

I will confirm that sealed product is being shipped out in waves. That means that our product is being sent in seperate deliveries. This is not typical for Pokemon. Normally we receive everything we preordered from our distributors all at once for the release date. For some reason they were not able to secure it all up front. We dont get the reasons why.

Please dont think I am sticking up for whomever didnt fill your order. I am not. I just want you to see it from the retailer side.

A lot of the vendors down here in SoCal weren't able to procure their full orders either. Many of them were "capped" to a certain number of product and only had enough product to secure their preorders.

DEX is most certainly more limited than Next Destinies.

A theory I've heard floating around is a lot of the product might be reserved for Nationals and Worlds, since these packs will be handed out as prizes for league/side tournaments etc.. Idk, but I do know that this specific situation isn't limited to this one specific retailer.

IF that is the case, has it been like this before?

My vendor here in central Cali got a limited supply as well. So it seems to be a nation-wide thing.

I don't even understand why this particular merchant suddenly decided to crack open so many cases. In the past, they've only stocked around 20 - 30 of each of the ultra rares. This time around, many of the ultra rares have over 80 in stock and even the most sought after ultra have roughly 50 in stock. I have no idea why they would think they would suddenly sell so many Pokemon singles.

(I don't think fulfilling pre-orders is a reason they cracked open so many cases; otherwise, there would still be some ultra rares with limited quantity. As it so happens, there's plenty of everything.)

I bought half a box from a website..... Two days later I get a message saying my order is cancelled for no apparent reason.:confused: I don't understand it at all.

It could be possible they sold too many Golden Catchers, and were forced to open more cases.

Considering the rarity is roughly 1/9 boxes, that isn't too surprising.

Fwiw, Troll and Toad has had it listed on its pre-orders [DELAYED] for a long long time. The products were listed as delayed...so it wouldn't be shocking that there would be a delay in the shipment.

I think there is also something that went wrong with the manufacturing of the product. The site I pre-ordered off of stopped taking Dark Explorers pre-orders awhile ago, and don't even list it on their site anymore, which I haven't seen happen for any other set.

Regardless, received my boxes on Wednesday and got my TnT EX pre-orders today.

So, some have received sealed product from a 'first wave' of multiple shipments. Seems plausible. A theory of stock being set aside for BRs and Nats has been thrown out there. Can anyone confirm/deny or further speculate? Has it happened before? Any info on possible printing/packaging problems? I'm sure many frustrated cardfloppers would be satisfied with at least a semblance of real information. I'm particularly interested in hearing from distributors.
