Hey guys, as some know, I've been absent from league play for several weeks, I came to this week's league as a main goal to get the Torchic promo, because I thought it looked REALLY good (I got 3rd place, and got it, so I was very happy!)
As you know this toke place in The Gathering Ground, StL MO Run by Vince (M45) and Rachel (ScizorKid)
Anyways here we go:
Round One VERSUS Johnny Sr. : 1-0
Johnny and his son were actually pals of mine, it was kool seeing 'em again, this was a fast game, I got my Ampharos EX out and wobbs, followed by late game Flygon. He killed none of my pokemon, this was kinda a stupid match, basically he was playing Walreign/Tentecruel/Something or other. I made quick work of his spheals, followed by a walrein which fell to my Ampharos EX's mighty power as well.
Round Two VERSUS Todd? (I forgot the guys name, I think it was Todd) 2-0
This guy was kinda new, but he told me he was playing 'Dragon' cards, now when you tell me 'dragon' the first thing that comes up to my mind is of course, Flygon! It started off pretty slow, we both got Trapinch and I went first, tried to paralyze him and failed, he succeded but I quickly evolved to a Vibrava. I used a dual ball and got heads on both, getting my wobbufets out early game, eventually I got tired of playing Dragon Spark with my Vibrava VS his, so I retreated to a fully powered Wobb, and killed him (he had 40 on him), so he takes out a fully powered Latias EX, hoping to kill me, now of course I forsaw this and I quickly noted that he cannot damage a Wobbuffet using an EX (unless of course Muk EX, so he quickly laughed and said no one uses that crap anymore) after 'flipping over' which did 20 because of resistence, I retreated to a fully powered Amph EX, did a gigavolt, got a heads and byebye Latias EX, 2 prizes for me. now the funny thing about his deck is that it really reminded me of one I read in Nintendo Power, as usual it was a noob deck, filled will ALOT of pkmn, dragon to be exact, problem is barely ANY energy. Todd was also devestated that every time he DID find an energy he attached he put 10 dmg on said card (Ampharos EX pokebody) the last pokemon to fall was his Salamence, gg actually, but hardly any energy for him.
Round Three VERSUS Heather 3-0
Now Heather has fought me a couple times before, her being defeated, so I guess this was really a 'grudge match' so to speak, anyways we both only got one basic, both of our main hitters preforms, I got a Mareep, she a Vulpix. Basically I paralyzed her, she drew a card, nothing good so my turn again, I evolve into a Flaffy, doing 30 dmg. She ascends into Ninetails EX. My turn again. This time dun-dun-dun I evolve into Ampharos EX, using gigavolt, heads yay, gg. This might have went different if I had not have paralyzed her in the first turn.
Round Four VERSUS Collin 3-1
Darn, this is where I lose... He was using his trademark Exploud deck, pretty much an Anti EX deck, now I got a God's hand, or so I thought, two full sets of Ampharos EX and one elec nrg. I realized this wasn't exactly a good thing, when he put down Ancient Tomb, poisining my Amphis, basically he boosted his explouds to do dmg, then noursed 'em. I got a Vibrava late game, but it was killed by Exploud, since it was weak to colorless, before it could evolve to Flygon.
Well that's it, the last battle was Collin VERSUS Rachel, and I have no idea who won, because I had to leave. I was very satisfied, I got a Beldum, Chimchoo WINNER, Chimchoo, Holo Fighting Nrg, and of course Torchic. Also I opened my Sandstorm packs that I won, and to my surprise I got my 3rd Rare Candy, great! When I used my deck before it only had 2 Ampy EXs in them which I found came in handy (espically 1st turn, thx to new rule!) but today I upped the count to 3 thx to Vince, and now completing the set is the 3rd Rare Candy!
Well a great session, hope to have another next week, cya there.
