Times have changed, VS cards are very popular right now, vending cards have mostly awful artwork, hence the different in popularity, and there are new collectors.

as for VS cards, yeah vending cards have SOME awful artwork, some is decent though, but the thing abou the VS cards is, outside of the pokemon art, their is really little in the way of backgrounds on those cards.

The ones in VS are nice as they are simple.

Its only on some cards of the vending series where the backgrounds are quite memorable, like the Articuno as a prime example which was produced as a holo as well.

possible, what makes VS set cards unique is the Pokemon poses, either in movement or in some type of action.

mostly its the artwork that makes the VS cards unique.some were wierd looking some were interesting the fact that also there were no rares just holos and commons.

I think also what makes VS cards desirable, is that each gym leader, had one specific artist.

i also like the fact that we saw some of the other gym leaders and E4 like lance will jaine karen and rocket.even the TM trainer cards were interesting to see and collect
