Title says it all. Discuss the K-Pop songs and groups that you like, new songs you want to recommend, etc.

I'm a hopeless SNSD fan, and I also like T-Ara a good deal, and Kara somewhat. BoA's Korean songs are great, but I'm not really digging the English stuff. I love the boybands too (haters gonna hate), particularly SuJu and Shinee. Pretty mainstream, but I also love the Japanese work of Jang Geun Suk and Kim Hyun Joong.

There's a good chance this thread will never take off, but if you like K-Pop you should post! Suggest a song, or just discuss what you like about K-Pop. Hopefully good song recommendations come out of this.

I'm open to expanding my ever shallow horizons, so I'll bite.

A friend of mine recently showed me the video of GANGNAM STYLE by PSY and I really enjoyed it. It was over the top and cheesy, but in that you can't help but smile and laugh way.

The cool people listen to K-Pop before it was cool ;]

But yeah, I listen to quite a big of K-Pop. Girl's Generation (shoot me I dare you), Psy (before Gangnam Style), Hyuna (before Gangnam Style), and Kara. I'm also getting into Exo-K and Wonder Girls.

DBSK - "Balloons" happens to be my favorite reminds me of Anime Conventions XD
I can't believe K - POP, or Korean stuff has "just" been considered "cool".
Guess doesn't mean that much when you are Korean :/.
I always thought the Hanboks were really pretty since like I was 7.

I've actually never heard k-pop, but I have heard J-Pop and really like it. I've heard so much after watching K-on! the anime. Those song are great. I'm gonna guess K-Pop is very similar.

Haha it seems like Gangnam Style has begun to define K-Pop for those who weren't already fans. While Gangnam Style has its appeal (who wouldn't love the PV?!) it's certainly not all there is to offer. I'm going to try to stay pretty mainstream and recommend Gee, Oh!, Bo Peep Bo Peep, Sorry Sorry, Lucifer. All standard K-Pop fare and definitely some of my personal faves.

Tbh I'd never heard of Hyuna before Gangnam Style, any suggestions? What are her best songs?

EDIT: Nvm. I knew I heard the name somewhere... 4Minute. Derp.

Hallyu in America probably started after SNSD got together, but I've only really been into it for a little over a year (before that it was only J-Pop). For some reason I only listen to TVXQ/ DBSK in Japanese. They only performed for the last 10 mins or so of the SMTown concert in NYC, which was disappointing :/

Actually, as a devout J-Pop fan, the two genres are really different. K-Pop has a much more "Pop" feel to it, while J-Pop tends to be slower (except the cutesy stuff). There's also a good portion of J-Pop that's very rock-inspired, generally as anime themes. If you like Japanese songs, most K-Pop artists end up on the Japanese music scene at some point, often in the top 10 of Oricon. I'd recommend Jang Geun Suk's "Let Me Cry" and Kim Hyun Joong's "Heat" (written by the B'z) especially, both of which debuted at the #1 spot on the weekly Oricon charts, and there's also the SNSD Japanese stuff, like "Mr. Taxi" and "Paparazzi," both of which are great.
