System Requirements: Each player must bring his/her own DS and copy of Pokemon X or Pokemon Y. All systems should be fully charged and ready to play.
Format: Premier challenges are played as Standard Format. Complete rules can be found here. Rounds are Swiss pairings (meaning all players play every round regardless of win/loss record) Number of rounds is determined by the number of players. Top players (up to 8) will play Top Cuts – single elimination rounds; best 2 of 3.
8 players in a division – Top 2
9-16 players in a division – Top 4
17-226 players in a division – Top 8
Championship Point Distribution: the following shows the breakdown of championship points for Premier Challenge:
1st: 40 CP
2nd: 32 CP
3rd-4th: 26 CP
5th-8th: 20 CP (kicker 16)
9th-12th: 14 CP (kicker 32)
13th-16th: 8 CP (kicker 32)
17th-32nd: 4 CP (kicker 64)
33rd-64th: 2 CP (kicker 128)
What is a kicker? It means that in order to be awarded those championship points, the division must reach a minimum number. So if you place 6th, there must be a minimum of 16 people in your division in order to receive those CP’s.
