I've been debating as to whether or not to buy a Japanese copy or Heart Gold or Soul Silver version. Finally giving into my inner hype, I think it would be really awesome to play through the Japanese version but in order to do so, I have to get a few questions answered first:

First off, can I play the Japanese copy on my American DSi? I've never heard of nintendo products not being able to cross country boundaries, but just in case this is definitely something I need to know before I do anything ^^' (P.S. This includes the Pokewalker)

Secondly, not being fluent in Japanese, I'll need to go somewhere for information depending on if I get stuck or not. Would anyone mind throwing out some advice of as to where I could go for such a thing?

Is it worth getting a copy from Japan or not? Any input would be nice, though I'd like to avoid comments that don't exactly help anything.

Thanks in advance for the help! ^^

P.S. Could you also list any Drawbacks to the Japanese copy of the game.

A practical issue I was debating was needing a translation for move sets and things like that. I'd hate to have someone forget a move like flamethrower for something lame like glare ._.

You should be able to play it as JPN Platinum works on my DSi. For the 2nd question, you should be able to tell what move is what if you have a comprehensive knowledge of moves. The color tells you the type, power also gives away what move it is. (I was able to do this with JPN Platinum.) There are really no drawbacks (they have a lot of Wi=Fi events which are AWESOME as well!) other than language. Honestly, I think I'm going to wait due to the fact it's going to be hard just to understand the game.

1 Yes
2. Go on pokebeach and your set.

Yes i bought alot of japanese games it's worth it.

3 Not being able to read it and possibly deleting the game

Just my 2 cents

Sure it will play on US systems as they are only able to region code disc's.

Pokebeach, ha. They could just go to either Serebii or better yet gamefaqs which are way better in terms of guides. Gamefaqs mainly as that site is dedicated to Video Game Guides and translation guides.

Kinda. We know this will come to the US, so it is really if you want it early also remember that if you do import it your version will not be able to pick up US events. All of the events in the US are specifically made for US Versions as they state in their directions. And there is no delete save game feature in Pokemon Games like this, unlike some of the other spin off games like Pinball and Puzzle League.

The only way to "Erase a save file" is to start a new game and save ASAP. Other than that I do not know of any other way.

When at the title menu, press Up+Select+B all at the same time. it will ask you if you want to delete all saved data (AKA Factory reset). It ask you several times if you are sure you want to delete the data.
