<< Off topic cough **Go Zane Go Zane Go Zane** cough >>

Back on topic...Didnt want to rat ya out Vince, but I know you are one of the extra special (sick??? maybe) PTOs that have done tourneys on paper. I also list my cell number on our local PRs for people to call if lost, emergency, etc. I think PUI/POP will be fair in their discussion of this issue.

Wow, I had NO idea what was going on until mom said that =X

"Are you sleepy? why are your eyes dialating..."
^my first though

jajaja

I've been known to resort to paper too. I wonder how many of us have that particular illness : TMS-itis

The new floor rules for next year must be either finished or very close to finished.. Does anyone from the wider community get to see these before they are published? I'm concerned that the option to enter players once round two has been paired will be taken away either explicitly in the floor rules or implicitly through changes to the software. Can anyone think of a good reason why such an exclusion would be beneficial?

Since I'm literally obsessed with being places on time (except for maybe once or twice), I'm always there right about when the store is just opening, so this is no problem for me. Less competition.

To me, it sounds like far too harsh a punishment for what might be too common a crime. In other words, I'm against it 100%. If there's another, far milder way to handle this, I'd like to know.

A player and family turns up late.

The tournament is underway, do they have any rights to join in? Do you as TO feel confident that there will be no ill feeling if you do turn them away?

Is it easy to explain why 29 minutes late is acceptable but 31 minutes late isn't?

I think it should be to the TO's discretion about late admittance.

I myself have been caught in traffic and showed up late to a tournament (it happened to be the Newnan GC). Mr. Dollar was kind enough to admit me, at the cost of a round-1 loss, of course.

I think that any enaction of such a rule (and yes, I realize that this is all just speculation for the time being) would be insane. Because of leagues/tournaments being so few-and-far-between, many families/players travel hundred...even thousands of miles to attend them. It should only be fair to allow penalized late arrivals.

The title of this topic should be changed to barred, not banned.

And, yes, you do have to set a limit, yourself, as TO eventually...

the difference between 29 and 31? Then it is the difference between before round 2 and during round 2?

If round 2, why not round 3? This goes on and on and on.

It is ALWAYS to a TO's advantage to have more players playing....

That's why MOST TOs bend over backward to get people in...

But it should still be down to the TO.

If I am running the event on paper, adding another slip to the mix...easy...

On computer, adding a player into round 2, easy...unless I make a mistake and lose the whole bloody event and have to start over!!!

OKOKOK...no kid yet..

I can't imagine that anyone would be BANNED for being late.

How about "You arrived after registration closed. Sorry."

My view on it, if a player's late for a *good* reason, and they've obviously done everything in their power to get there on time, let 'em play.

If it's for some silly "the dog ate my deck registration sheet" reason, then no.

I consider myself lucky though... My local players are pretty good at letting me know if they're going to be late, and by how long, if they're even late at all.

What will stop a TO from running a tourney on paper, then loading the results into TMS later?? Could be a pain, but I know several PTOs that can do that fairly quickly (a paper tourney).

Paper events are the way to go :thumb: . Had some TMS problems at my Emerald prerelease, scrapped that, and went by paper.

It's sounds like a stupid rumor made up by an idiot who doesn't know Mike or Dave at all. PUI will never be so cruel. It's moronic to think they would. The Distributers over there, that I can understand, they don't seem to know what they're doing at all anyway. But PUI, no, never. That's too cruel to be true of them.

Can't agree more it should be down to the TO but what if that option is removed and it is no longer down to the TO?

The proposal as it stands now is that a TO's ability to add players late to a tournament will be curtailed to only during round one.

After that your BARRED as Meg45 has said.. Title changed BTW to reflect the reality :D

I personally don't see it ever happening. No. Mike and Dave both are great guys, and this is the last thing I can ever see them doing. What's next, they're going to ban you from POP just for having WOTC cards in your possession? Come on, I know you've got more sense than to believe something as farfetch'd as that.

It is just a proposal at present nothing more nothing less and would be designed to limit the disruption Late Entrants cause to a tournament.

If instituted, it will obviously be in the Penalty Guidelines.

For local tournaments, we allow late players to play starting in the 2nd round (they get a 1st-round no-play). Obviously, we don't do that for major tournaments.

Anyway, I highly doubt any such rule will be implemented that bans late players from playing anymore tournaments. Maybe over there in the UK, but NOT here in the US.
