Lava Flow

So i am new to the game and I broght a Lava Flow deck (the one with the Platypus). What kind of game strategy or extra cards should I add, (since I don't think 4-2-1 Venasauer belongs here) and what packs should I buy. The only modification I done was to remove a Fire energy and a Charmeleon for Dark Charmeleon and Dark Charizard.

Um... I think you should post some of the other cards
you have, cuz me just naming good cards wont help you.

Ok.

1) That Platypus is no platyspus, it is Magmortar, or Mag., the evolution of Magmar

2) That deck, just out of the box, can do very well, it has placed 20 at regionals. Things you should add remove would be the Venasuar line, add in Claydol for drawing power, remove some energy searches and add some better trainers of you chice, and maybe add another line or Mag. Lv.X

thank you. I think I will buy the Cyndaquil structure deck (or Chimchar's) and get some of those fire types on in it
