Hey folks!

I was wondering where the leagues in San Diego are located and when league hours are. LMK.

Thanks in advance!

There's the one that SD Pokemom posted, which is about 30 minutes away from the hotel. The majority of the league is non-competitive juniors, though that might change when more people come out for Worlds. There are a few competitive masters.

There's a league in Temecula, California at a store called HobbyTown USA (not sure about the address, but if you look up hobbytown usa on google maps you should be able to find it). I've never actually been to this league, and it's around an hour away from the hotel, but IDK if you're staying with someone that lives close to it it should be worth a try.

There's one that started after Worlds 2009 in La Mesa, California. It's only about a twenty minute drive from the hotel. 5500 Grossmont Center Dr. La Mesa, CA, 91942. It's in the mall's food court. I've never actually been to this one, but for more info you can PM the league leader (mamaschutte) though i'm not sure if she comes on here much anymore.

My personal favorite is the one at Game Empire. (7051 Clairemont Mesa Blvd #306, San Diego, CA). It's only 15 minutes from the hotel. Every sunday starting at 11. It's run like an actual tournament. After swiss rounds the winner of each division gets a booster pack and everyone who participates gets a promo card. This is one of the smaller leagues in San Diego, but there are several good players who attend regularly. The tournament structure is a great way to prepare for Worlds. I recommend coming to this one, it's a lot more fun than the regular kind of league.

Certainly not my favorite. :nonono: A gymleader is not supposed to force everyone visiting the league into a tournament (see league rules!). And he certainly was not giving everyone a POPbooster (2 years ago when I visited his league). He also cheats with the outcome of the "tournament" as his son lost two rounds, but finally won the tournament from others that were undefeated and thus got the POPboosters. I hope he learned to be a better gymleader by now. BTW I do not care about the POPboosters, nor about the promocards, but it isn't supposed to go that way this guy is running his league!

If someone wants to have open play that's completely fine. They still get their league card for participating. People have done it before. It's just 99% of the people who go want to play the tournament...

I never said he gave everyone a booster. I said the winner of each division gets a booster. At the time his son was in juniors. Since we have a small amount of juniors and seniors, he combines the divisions in the tournament, but at the end the Master, Senior and Junior with the best record get the pack. The seniors are usually on the winning end of this exchange, so the majority of the juniors end with a losing record. Someone wins Juniors with a losing record almost every week.

I wouldn't accuse someone of cheating unless you know what you're talking about.

are any of the SD-area leagues open on wednesday?

There used to be, but not any more

my league (San Diego Games and Comics) used to be on wednesdays when we met at borders books and music, but that wasn't a good day for the new store as wednesdays are new comics day. we moved to mondays to lessen the conflict with the comics buyers.

hape, hope to see you and the family at league before or after worlds :)
