A Sailer walks into a restaurant and orders seagull. After swallowing one bite he walks back out the door and hangs himself.

Why does he do it?

Hints:

He has a boat.

There is nothing wrong with the Seagull.

You can ask questions, but I won't answer any which will give it away a lot.

How can you physically stand behind your friend as he physically stands behind you?

IDK about the first one, but for this one you stand with your backs facing each other. I have a puzzle.

4 robbers got caught and are sentenced to pass a trial or die. For this trial they are buried in the ground and are each given a hat with a specific color on it, they can only say the color of their own hat, if any one of them does, they all go free.

They all know that there are 2 black hats and 2 white hats.

They know where everybody is and what way everybody is facing.

Here's a diagram of how they're placed:

->B (wall) W B W <-

The person on the left is looking right and can only see the wall, the three on the right are looking left, the last person can see the two people in front of him, and the second can see the one person in front of him. No one can see the man behind the wall and he can see no one.

What sure fire way can someone announce the color of their own hat?

Hint: What information do you need to know in order to determine the color of your hat? (No, it's not knowing the color of your hat)

Do you and your friend stand back to back?

All I know is that the W on the right knows the 2nd W and 2nd B from the left.
Could the 2nd W (from the left) ask... wait..that won't work...
Wait, (all from the left) the second W tells the second B he has a black hat. Then 2nd B says "I haz a black hat!!11!"

I've got one,
what do the words flour, tern, and thirsty have in common?

No. They may only say the color of their own hat.

The trick would be: can they rotate in place? If so, the the middle robber should turn and look behind him, see that the third also has a white hat, then say that he has a black one, since the only color left is black.

No, but clever. Use concepts of time and assumption. What can one person say by saying nothing at all?

If the man on the far right saw two hats of the same colour, he would know which hat he was wearing.
Since he says nothing, the two infront of him know that they are wearing different colours.
The man in the middle of the group of three knows he must be wearing a different coloured hat to the man infront of him, and as he can see that mans hat, he can easily say what hat he is wearing.

Correctamundo!

Here's another, everyone will probably hate it.

A man with no eyes sees apples in a tree.
He takes no apples and leaves no apples, now how can this be?

0_0 That one is confusing >_<
I just thought!
Since he has no eyes, maybe the apples are just a figure of his imagination, therefore, one cannot take or leave any apples are there are none to take or leave!

Nope everything is real in that riddle.

@ Sabett: He ate the apples. ^^ He's not 'taking' them, but they're not there, either.

----

A classic:
The person who makes it has no need for it. The person who purchases it does not use it. The person who does use it does not know they need it. What is it?

----

A family gravestone reads:
Two grandmothers, with their two granddaughters;
Two husbands, with their two wives;
Two fathers, with their two daughters;
Two mothers, with their two sons;
Two maidens, with their two mothers;
Two sisters, with their two brothers;
Yet only six in all lie buried here;
All born legitimate, from incest clear

Is this possible?

It's a Koffing? (Chessy joke lol)

Also for the other one, their are more people than 6 written down but that's because some of the people are mothers and grandmothers etc?

A coffin. The person who makes it does not use it, people usually purchase it for someone else, and people that are dead don't notice it too well :p

The person is blind. He "feels" 2 apples in the tree. He takes 1 and leaves 1. Leaving an apple and taking 1 apple. "an apple" is not the same as "no apples" Plural??

Cool thread!

Annoying Riddle:

You are trapped in a room with no doors, windows, or any kind of openings. There are only two objects in the room: a mirror and a table. How do you get out of the room?

Hint: The answer involves using homophones.

you aren't in the room, because the only two things in the room are a table and a mirror.

or

you look into the mirror and see what you saw,
then you saw the table in half with the saw,
you put the table together to make a whole,
then you crawl through the hole to escape!!
