Magnezone a Viable Choice for Nats?

I'm going to have to disagree with it losing badly to Gengar. Assuming that you're saying Gengar/Nidoqueen, Magnezone plays Palkia which means it can bring the Queen up, Paralyze it, or even possibly ohko if you have enough energy for the DP zone. From there you can use Uxie tricks to avoid feinting spell. If you play correctly against Gengar you should have an Uxie cycling, a Claydol g'd, a level'd up Super Connectivity Zone that is g'd and a DP Magnezone. This means Gengar is doing virtually nothing to you and Zone also plays Queen which means you're doing... ten to the DP Magnezone every turn. Early game would definitely be hard but if you play right it's not a terrible match-up.

Magnezone beats gengar sooo easily...
Just stack SP Metals on a DP Magnezone, do 100 and then kill it off with Pachirisu or something like that.
Not hard :/

@above

Uxie tricks wont work anymore^^

All I can say is Magnezone is incredibly underrated.

P.S. I'm Marcel O., the guy that finished 2nd at the Dutch nats.

Obviously the retreat cost is not the only thing... Magnezone's energy accel for Flygon, which is good. If it sets up, it is good; however, like every other Flygon deck, it's somewhat inconsistent and slow to set up.

Flygon isn't inconsistent at all, its slower than most decks but not but not inconsistent unless you try to tech in alot. The best Partner is Weavile hands down, stage 1 with free retreat and can get 2 from your deck, turns them dark so it increases your chances vs Gengar.

Magnezone is just.........Bad, I tested it and wanted it to work but it was just........Bad

Just for record did you play any gengar or luxape decks and if so are they terrible match-ups?

I didn't, but as I say people are underrating the chances of Magnezone (at least my build) against those 2 decks. LuxApe is still hard, that's for sure, but not an autoloss. As for Gengar, my build went 45-55 to it.

Banette EX: You not getting a good build of Magnezone doesn't mean it's bad.

How the heck can Zone loose to Gengar?
Just a Magnezone and a Claydol and use starters & crap to finish them off :/

So here's the list I made, incase anyone wanted to know

Basically the gengar strategy is to get out magnezone with unown G and claydol with unown G and hit him for 80 then De-Evolve it.

Magnezone is tough if you can BTS it to death and get a T1/T2 build.

I run it for fun at league, but I've discovered that it just does not have the damage output I'd like.
80 + paralyze is good, but it doesn't do the housecleaning. Nidoqueen hurts this deck.

The PROMO Zone being your Main attacker helps alot and so Does Dialga #5 PL

In most cases Magnezone needs 3 turns to set-up, and in those 3 turns Gengar can hurt Magnezone quite badly. When you still have a nice Setup after 3 turns, your chances to win are over 50 percent.

how do you fit in the promo zone? Two of the energy getters seem pretty essential.

Definitely not. You only need 1.

1 Energy getter, 2 Attackers, 1 Lv X.

I prefer the Zone DP or one of the Promo Zone to be my attacker. The Zone DP is my favorite because he really abuses Zone SF and Special Metal.

Could you give us a taste of your list... maybe just Poke Lines??

I tested a winning Battle roads gengar against my deck, i played 5 matches and won all but one where i got donked ,(stupid unown G start) The match consists of you giving them a few early game prizes while getting out an unown G'd claydol and magnezone DP from their you limit your trainers and try to get 3 sp metal / metal and de-evoluter on you're magnezone, from there gengar can't do anything to you, you are hitting them for 80 or more if needed and de-evolving them. Even if they send out nidoqueen your resistance, small bench size and sp metal energy can reduce their damage to almost nothing, it's a great match-up but can be very time consuming.

It is bad, especially in this metagame. I made the deck very well, just can't keep up or contend with anything. Gengar eats up, Ape/Ray just laughs at the magnet, BlazeTran I won't speak on it, Even Machamp can go toe to toe with it.

It may work in the Netherlands, but bringing that to Nationals will get you embarrassed.

No really, magnezone beats gengar as badly as dialga G beats gengar it is an impossible match-up. You set up magnezone gaurd it then set up a claydol and gaurd it, play few trainers, hit it with magnezone DP's Attack for 80 then de-evolve it, if they have nidoqueen out hit it for 90 then de evolve it, play few trainers and they can't hit you for any damage the most nido queen can do is 40 and thats with no special metal attached. Please explain to me how gengar eats it?
