But Phoine also helos other decks. It helps Eeveelutions, alot of other decks that mite not have been playable will be, I like playing PST now if phoine is released which will make the deck so much more consitant and quicker setup. Its fun.
MD will release a few archtypes,I mean its due time for one. But Mag/G&G will still be everywhere, but now we will probably see more rogue decks which would be nice for nationals.
Phione is a lot like Pachirisu in many ways. I could probably find a quote of someone saying the exact same thing about Pachirisu "helping other decks succeed against GG/Mortar," but I don't really care to look. In my opinion, those decks you're talking about that could become playable would have become playable in time for States through the use of Pachirisu and Claydol.
Since we have a bit of an idea of what's in Majestic Dawn, I'm not too convinced that a new archetype will come out. Eeveelutions, maybe, but other than that I just see things still struggling against GG/Mortar. We may be "due" for something good to come out, but I've been saying that we've been due for, like, over a year now. I started pointing out flaws in the game way back when hand disruption was extinguished. Of course, those were wonderful days compared to what we have now. Even though I am grateful for our format moving past the T1/T2 stuff (Mario, Kricketune), I'm still disappointed with where we are now. If I didn't have plans on going to Nationals, I probably would have quit this game (which is truly a sad thing).
Sorry, I know that's an extremely pessimistic point-of-view. Who knows though, maybe Majestic Dawn
will change the format. Maybe. But even if it does, I'll still be upset that our format became decent only before Nationals. Next year I might just skip everything up until Nationals if this is the pattern I'm supposed to expect. :nonono:
I'd like to see Eeveelutions take off. I still think there are components of that deck that are very strong. Back when we first saw the translations, the first thing I suggested to my brother was to run Leafeon Lv.X as a tank, considering the Leafeon has an attack that reduces damage and the card combos well with Buffer Piece and Quagsire (to get Buffer Piece back), as well as Sunflora. I saw a beastly turn 3 tank in that card, but with the popularity of Magmortar, eh. Yeah, I can run Umbreon, but it kind of takes away from the consistency of the deck. I've always liked the Eeveelutions though, so I'd like to see someone prove me wrong by making the deck work.
