Day before nats I was deciding on what deck to play and I was all over the place on my deck decisions, as I just couldn't decide it. I tried everything, from Plasma-Goth. I was pretty set on playing Darkrai due to the all around matchup it had, but as I practice a few more games I couldn't get the deck working how I wanted to. I just decided to use my Plasma build and tech in a few enhanced for mirror. Enhanced is very, very great for that mirror match, you'll always be a step ahead of them is you use it to disrupt their set up. (example, hammer on a Kyurem that just got a T1 frost spear on you)
I wake up early, get ready and head to the venue all excited for to see all my friends. I meet up with my friends, Alex, Harrison, Kabir, Jack, Aneil, Rob and just hang out with them while we wait for the main event to start. I managed to get a game with my Friend Alex, it was the first EVER time he started playing Pokemon cards, and I was teaching him the basics through skype. We told him to come with us and he did, I gave him a Durant deck with a bunch of disrupting cards (hooligans, hammers, and such). His first ever game, he wrecks my Plasma and I was very shocked haha. I then just chill with my friends from BC like Jack, Kabir and April.
Turns out we had a largest turnout we ever had 174 Masters 55 Seniors 39 Juniors (sadly no T-Shirts were given out at all, boo)
It meant 8 rounds and cut to the top 32! We were ready for the long day.
Round 1 VS Nancy Watson (Landorus variant)
I start off with a Kyurem attach a prism energy and Juniper for 7, bench Keldeo with a Float Stone and just pass. She just hammer heads me, I skyla for Colress Machine and attach a Blend and it's game. gg.

Round 2 VS David Milner (Blastoise)
I start off very strong with a T1 Frost Spear, he doesn't get a Blastoise out until T5. He has the one out, and I cannot get the catcher to KO his only Blastoise. I played a Colress for 8, as well a Juniper the following turn and don't hit it. He hits a crucial max potion to heal off damage from a Keldeo, and once he got a Black Kyurem EX out I knew it was game over. He KO'd all my Deoxys which prevented me from KOing any Blastoises (I didn't play virbank). gg

Round 3: VS Greg Cresswell (Darkrai)
He starts off Sableye, and benches a Darkrai and attaches, laser, plays a Juniper then Junk hunts. I start off Keldeo, float stone, Juniper bench a Kyurem blend and pass. He then enhanced hammers me, and just re-uses it all game with Sableye, I can't manage to take prizes because I can't even get 2 thundurus into play when i needed them. I only managed to get 1 early, but when I got my second one out, it was already too late I didn't have enough energies to constantly retrieve my energies. I run out of energies. GG

I start to lose my confidence here, I need to go 6-2 in order to make it in. Sadly haven't faced that mirror match once at all.
Round 4: VS Will Tam (Darkrai/Mewtwo)
I started Kyurem, got out two deoxys, attached a blend and passed. I had to manually attach all the energies, and slowly damage his field. I ended up blizzard burning for game on his Darkrai(can't remember much of this game)

Round 5: VS Sam Mcghee (Plasma)
He dead draws and I just manage take advantage of that and take all 6 prizes.

At this point, me, Harrison and Jack wanted to race each other. Last year we wanted to have a race to see which individual is faster, but we never got to sadly. So we get to the first floor, and see this perfect hallway in the hotel where we could race. We put our things to the side and get ready, and we started the race. Jack was literally a mile ahead of me and Harrison and was on just a whole other level. In other words he crushed us pretty bad, beat us by a good 5 seconds. I sadly was the last one to finish, but was neck and neck with Harrison for second. It was pretty fun.
Round 6: VS Alaric Mckenzie B (Plasma w/Darkrai and Lugia)
Me and Alaric seem to play a lot against each other, we prepared for a enjoyable game. He started Lugia, colress machines, attaches and passed. I start Kyurem and ultra ball for Deoxys (had no way to retreat into a Thundy if I were to search for it) I just frost spear, knowing if he KO's I got a respond KO. He doesn't hit it, he retreats and I believe whiffs the energy. From there things just started going down hill for him, I manage to take prizes with Kyurem and finish the game with a Raiden Knuckle on a damaged Keldeo EX for game. gg

Round 7: VS Mike Martindale (Blastoise)
I know Mike is a fantastic player, and was prepared for a interesting game. He starts a Squirtle, I go first, float stone my active Deoxys and N for 6, manage to get a Kyurem attach to it and passed. He gets out a Squirtle and a Keldeo, attaches to a Keldeo and passes. I bench down my other Kyurem, attach a blend to the other one, colress machine my first one. So there's two on one and one on the other. I frost spear both his Keldeos. He doesn't get blastoise until late, and it was just a tad too late. gg

Round 8: William Brit (Plasma)
I saw he started Thundurus, and I was excited at first knowing I was prepared for the mirror match. However I start double Keldeo and sadly don't hit a supporter until Turn 6. Everything just went downhill for me, I try to make a comeback, with KO'ing his 4 energy Thundurus with my Deoxys. However he manages to Kyurem my Deoxys. I have a chance at this only if I draw my N, from his N. Sadly I don't and I know I lost.

Overall, I was pretty bummed out how close I was to top cut. But I know my deck did me well, and I'm happy that I finished strong. Props to my friend Harrison on making top cut with Darkrai, as well as my several other friends.
