Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

My contact has found something very interesting

Hello everyone, I am PokemonDave and although I am new here I have some Pokémon knowledge from a friend of mine who is inside the company. I cannot name him for important reasons (if the Pokémon company find out who he is they will obviously fire him) however he has been fed up with the treatment by some higher ups so he's asked me to leak something to as many Pokémon sites as I can to spite them.

the picture he sent me is this one
voltorbandnewpoke.jpg

He hasn't told me anything about it because he is really nervous about his job's future but from the picture it looks like it could be an early design of a poster. Having voltorb next to a new pokemon makes me think that it may be an evolution, maybe a split-evolution? I really want to know more but obviously he doesn't want to get in trouble.

I'm not going to lie, this looks very fake. And also the fact that you're posting a link to another website which happens to be imageshack is suspicious.

The pic being on imageshack isn't that suspicious if it's a leaked image, but everything else seems out of place.

If it was a real leak, then why would we get any story (much less one that would help the boss find who leaked it)?
Why wouldn't the person just post the pic on a host site and then have a friend claim to have found it while looking for info on the new pokes?

Not outright calling it a lie, but too many things are out of place.

Then again, it would be funny if it was a lie and one of the new pokemon happened to look like the made up pokemon anyways. lol

It appears that he just joined the gym and logged off as soon as this was posted. With this info, it makes it more likely that his story is true, or makes it more false, as either he could be making accounts to tell people about this on different sites, or he could be making accounts on different pokemon sites to try and fool all pokemon fans, not just ones on a specific site. Idk

Personally - I am calling this fake. This is nothing but a rumor, the image is grainy and everybody i know at TPCi is quite happy where they are.

Sorry PokemonDave - until you can back it up a little better, i ain't buying it.

My friend emailed it to me, I uploaded it to ImageShack to show you guys.

I don't really get why he sent such a grainy picture to me, it may have been something they know he was working on so he'd changed it a bit but I really don't know.

Oh great, it's like being spammed up by fakes on GameFAQS all over again. Yeah, it looks pretty suspicious to me. I don't see why Gamefreak would design a new evolution for Voltorb anyway.

does anyone know wha the japanese charactes say on the image?

i personally say this is real. The person may have messed up the picture cause' he knew he'd get fired if they saw it.
Its either a new evo of voltorb or a new color of shiny electrode.

The katakana is Po-Ke-Mo-N. The last symbol is a hard N sound without a vowel afterwards.

It doesn't prove this image is real, and to be honest there is nothing that can prove it until the Black and White pokemon are revealed.

Looks like either a shiny Voltorb or one being electrocuted...

But yeah, I dunno. Why would Voltorb even need another evo, Electrode is already kinda useless, adding a 2nd stage to him would just make him about as fast as Ninjask (or possibly faster, thus regaining the speed crown?). About the only thing besides that would be to boost his SpA so he could, you know, actually KO something, but really, dunno why they'd bother with a dead-end Pokemon from RBY...

IMO, every non-Legendary Pokemon should have three stages of evolution, whether it's Basic, S1, S2, or Baby, Basic, S1. It just feels weird to me that some Pokemon stop their evolution process after only a single stage...

Or they could change it so he's got more SpA, but less speed. Or better defense, but that would kind of ruin the whole point of it.

I'm calling it fake. It doesn't look enough different from Voltorb to be a new species, it looks like a voltorb with a TINY bit of modification.

Since this doesn't seem to be dying, I might as well give my reason why I think it is fake,

Download the image. Zoom in on the right side of the Voltorb-evo. There is a red spot, despite the fact that there is no red in the sprite whatsoever, which in itself is odd given that Voltorb and Electrode were both red. Anyway, what possible reason could there be for a red spot on it unless there was red originally that was not completely colored over? That's my reason for being suspicious.

It's fake. If this was a real leak, why would it only be posted in the video game section on Pokégym? Seriously?

IF this is real your friend could get fired. Its just a really bad fake. Also companies can usually trace leaks back to a source and it would be stupid to get fired over leaking some info.
