I didn't play this deck competitively, but I've been testing it for 2 days at home against my Mew-Trick. I like the deck, but it needed more consistency than I saw on another thread. Thus, 4/3 Marowak, since it's the main hitter. It's meant to do harm to Metanite, Scizor, et al. and 2/2 doesn't cut it, it just doesn't. You need to make sure you get Cubone out early, along with Stantler (Dewgong is almost completely a defensive card, and finding Seel in your hand early isn't cool. Test it and see for yourself).

17 Pokemon

4 Stantler
4 Cubone
3 Marowak
2 Latios d EX
3 Holons Electrode
1 Jynx UF

NOTES: Marowak pushed to 4/3. I took out Dewgong. Even though the Colorless could be nice against Dragons and Flies, I find it useless. In Metanite, you're not going to see the Dragonite active that often. In Flygon, you may see a Colorless out there, but they can work around it. I added Jynx on a whim, just for a good T1 open, plus it can use Cessation or Energy Root without any problem (not evolved). If you don't like it, Jynx is negotiable for a different T1 Tech (Gligar?).

29 Trainers

4 Marys Request
4 Cessation Crystals
3 Castaway
3 Cursed Stone
2 Holon Legacy
2 Celios Network
2 Energy Root
1 Lanettes Net Search
1 Holon Mentor
1 Scott
1 Holon Farmer
2 Switch
2 Great Ball
1 Mr Briney

NOTE: I took out Island Hermit. According to a different philosophy, it was there for Prize control when we had 2/2 Marowak. We now have 4/3. I also took out Solid Rage. Solid Rage is only going to work for Marowak, so it is somewhat limiting. Generally speaking, I find Energy Root and Cessation take up all the attachment room anyway. I took out Copycat and Prof Oak's Research. There are 4 Mary's. That's enough. I added 2 Switch, and 2 Great Ball, a great combination on the open. I also added 1 Mentor to go with the 1 Lanette (this is working out well). Added 1 Mr Briney for obvious reasons.

14 Energy

3 Scramble
2 d Rainbow Energy
2 Metal
7 Fighting

NOTE: Changed 6 Water for 7 Fighting. It just makes good sense for Marowak. Latios can work off the d Rainbow and Holon's Electrode. Took out Holon WP. It's useful, but Metal has more use in this deck. Added another Scramble, since it's too much to wait on 1 of 2 Scramble, and what if 1 or 2 are prized? Obviously, Jynx's Pure Power will be the trickiest attack to use here, Energy-wise, but Jynx isn't really in the deck for that reason.

As for DRE, it can only be used on Marowak (or Dewgong, on a different list). On Marowak, your Bone attack drops down to 10 each Pokemon- not great. Marowak's second attack comes down to 40 (or 80 to a Metal Pokemon)[Dewgong doesn't fare any better]. Tis true, DRE is quick, but so is a Castaway "engine" for a Fighting Energy (and Tool, and Supporter), and then the turn following, one of the 2 Metal, 2 d Rainbow, or 3 Holon Electrodes to complete the Wak attack (and the Castaway can get a Celio's for the Electrode).

What about Holon Researcher for a chance to get Metal Energy, or a Pokemon (Marowak, or Latios EX)- maybe drop the Holon Legacy?

You might think of trying Wobbuffet LM in here. It's a simple Mentor away from setup, and you could lock their castform active while you discard all their trainers. Oops, there goes the switch you needed. Works with Cessation Crystal hitting the powers too.

hmmm....crafty... :)

I just updated the list.
- 1 Metal
+ 1 Mr Briney

can i ask... why the jynx if you really want a t1 teck... my very first list had dunsparce... his tripping turn will wreak havock on shuppet or holon castform and he lets you down draw an extra 2 cards...i think it would be perfect for what you wanna do.

Jynx was basically on a whim. It has the capability to start some trouble. Dunsparce sounds kinda interesting with the Hit and Run. So did Prime's idea about Wobbuffett. There are lots of cool one-Techs available.

I think Stantler is OK, but not the reason it won Cities. I think Marowak is a terrific card, doing 20 damage like a Spinning Tail, and taking care of Metal Pokemon nicely. I also think Latios EX is a fine card. Personally, I believe these two cards and Cessation Crystal are the real stars. Let's face it, you want to "turn off" Metanite, Flygon EX, and Mew EX LM. Take their Trainer? It's good, but not devastating, as I've seen over and over in games I play, even with improved setups.

None of this is meant to take away from your deck, which I think it's terrific as an idea.

Your Right the real star is cessation crystal, but the fact is that the only way to make it stick is to discard the windstorms...and Stantler is the only pokemon is the whole game that can make that possible. when you combine the fact that you can play cursed stone and then confuse the active and its a basic that doesnt require specific energy then stantler becomes very important. but then you face a dck like raieggs where the crystal doesn't do any thing and marrowak is extra important

I think it's too much to assume that Stantler will begin with Cessation Crystal, Curse Stone will be out, and that opponent will have no alternatives in setup. Assuming Stantler gets its "god hand" (how often is that?), it still must charge up twice in order to discard any Trainers in the opponent's hand. Meanwhile, you lose out on two turns of charging up Marowak. Meanwhile, opponent, understanding from the start that you intend to take his Trainers, begins to use said Trainers in like manner to decks with Rocket's Admin, that is, hurriedly. Thus, best scenario, if you go first, and have "god hand," opponent will still have a turn to Rare Candy, attach Energy, and use a Supporter. If you go second, opponent has TWO turns to do that. Once you place Cessation Crystals and Energy Roots, you're also susceptible to Espeon EX, played in Flariados, Eeveelution, and other decks.

Like I said, I'd want to play someone who can win with this deck to see what it's REALLY like. I only have tested here at the house.

With your list I'd rather use the holon engine... Mentor for any pokemon in your decc, or researcher for the Marowak D's. Seems more effective... You can also add a 1 Smoochum if you want the Jynx effect. However like Muk Man said Dunsparce is awesome. Or likitung d... Just max d Rainbow Energy.

So many decks delta draw up their hands. You get to discard the cards before they even get to play them. There's more of a chance of getting stantler and a cessation (a god hand) then it is to get a god hand for many other decks. You keep assuming that the opponent is always going to have a god hand.

Sorry, I'll make myself more clear. I was trying to type before I ran out the door.

I was saying that since so many decks are running castform, you have an advantage. If they delta draw for 3, there is a good chance they will get a trainer. You then have a chance to discard that trainer before they get to do anything with it.

Some might say that your opponent will adapt and not delta draw. Instead they just try to power up their flygon, metagross, etc without the delta draw. If this happens, you still have the advantage. Shutting down early game delta draw gives you a huge advantage.

Stantler can be used for pretty much any matchup except raieggs.

Yes, you won't always get the god hand, but that goes for any deck.

I don't like your pokemon chooses.
4-3 Marwak, is overkill, since there are many other decks without metal pokemon, and i they don't have that, this is nearly an autoloss..
True, you still have your Laias, but i like Muk Mans better, AND my own, but that isn't tested yet.
BUT i like that you can tech in more things. Espcially the Wobbuffet idea. Sweet! <3
Dunsparce in 1 of my fav. cards, and i think it's a good choise too. You can draw or auto confuse. Perfect!
But why Jynx?
Also, I suggest you take out 2 d' rainbow, with 2 metals.

jk: I agree on a couple of points.

POINT 1: The "god opening hand." Surely, no one will get the "god opening hand" every game. If you fail to get Stantler and Cessation on T1, you have fallen way behind (IMO). Now, you might say, since there are 4 Crystal and 3 Cessation, odds are good to get the Cessation T1 (even for use on Cubone), but not so. In Mew-Trick, I run 4 Electrike and 3 Great Ball, giving me the same odds for Electrike as Stantler for Cessation. But however, MANY times Electrike does not come up til later! Therefore, based on my gameplay with both Stantler and MewTrick (Mew-Trick since LM first came out), I cannot say that getting a Cessation on T1 is a foregone conclusion. Furthermore, getting a Stantler AND a Cessation is even less likely on T1.

POINT 2: I agree that a shutdown of Delta Draw in the early going is a huge advantage for you. Nevertheless, Stantler does not "shut down" Castform, it is the opponent who makes that decision. Assuming opponent draws up a Castform, goes 2nd, plays a Mentor, and now has 3-4 Pokemon on the bench, it is likely he will have more than 1 Trainer in his hand (since Trainer counts are normally close to 1/2 of the deck, in the 25-30 range). Meanwhile, Stantler, to be able to remove the Trainer, must have the appropriate Energy. If not, then opponent is free to use those Trainers. Let's say, for example, opponent plays Tyranitar EX (Dark): he can go "energy destruction" on your Delta Rainbow, Holon's Electrode, or other Special Energy, and all he needed was Larvitar, Rare Candy, PETM, and a couple energy. Tyranitar is not Delta, has no Poke-Powers or Poke-Bodies, and can basically kick your butt. It may be weak to Fighting, but you still have to evolve to 1 of your Marowak and get a Scramble on it QUICKLY.

Now, this brings me to Ardroptes, who claims 4/3 Marowak is "overkill." I'm sorry, but going 2/2 Marowak means that you consider Marowak to be a "helper" or a "tech." In fact, Marowak is often cited as central (and rightfully so) against Metanite, and RaiEggs. Therefore, why on Earth would you relegate your main hitter to second-class status, and torture yourself by burying in the deck, or prizing, your Marowaks? Who then is central to the deck, Stantler? News flash: T3 Gardevoir EX will clean house with Super Stantler unless you happen to stumble upon Latias EX, and power it up quickly. In Super Stantler, choices must be made and the setup that Muk Man has given simply does not allow for quick flexibility under fire.

I'm glad you agree at least that some other cards are better than Dewgong. Prime's offering, Wobbuffet, is certainly an interesting character, but however, if you have Cessation active, Wobby on the bench does nothing! Dunsparce is nice. Now, Jynx, as I've said, gives you that T1 auto-Condition. I think Roselia, and even Murkrow, would work well here too.

But why take out the 2 d Rainbow and 2 Metal. In the first place, you need the d Rainbow for Marowak/Latios EX. Second, Metal is nice for Wak, and Holon Researcher in a Holon engine (as suggested by A. Threatz) might be a good thing. Third, you NEED Energy quickly, so you can't simply get rid of Energy.

I would like to hear about alternatives to Marowak since I'm not convinced that it is the best central character for Super Stantler.

My best friend played a deck like this today on a CC. I smashed him with Metanite, i didn't understand the deck consept, but i thought i was bad, sorry to say it =/

Oh, he's good, he came 3# in Nats, was in Worlds, many CC and Prerelease wins. Ranked 1# in the country. Yea, he's good.

The deck probably don't fit for him. It worked fine for me last League day..

Oh, wait. Did he use THIS list, or the original?

I'd go back to Holon WP, it's just the ideal energy for this deck.

I'm new to SS but wanted to try it; is it possible to run without any evolutions? As in, a mentorable deck?

Maybe it could work just with Lati@s's.

2 Latios ex
3 Latias ex
2 Latias DS
2 Latios DS
2 Latias HP
4 Stantler

15 pokemon
