Hello fellow Pokegymers. In advance, let me thank you for this opportunity to vent. That is all this is, so if that is not of interest to you, please feel free to move along to the next topic.

Back at the beginning of May, I submitted a support ticket to resolve what I thought was a very simple issue related to my son’s involvement in Pokemon. I will not bore everyone with all the gory details, but in summary I have:

submitted 3 additional support tickets

sent numerous direct emails to Pokemon staff

had an in person conversation with Pokemon staff at Nats

asked a well-regarded PTO that I know for help and getting him to graciously assist with a higher level contact

followed up with that high level contact with an in person conversation at Worlds

With all that, the issue is still unresolved.

The email you get when you submit a ticket says that Pokemon strives to respond to all inquiries within 48 hours. So it is quite surprising that an issue could go over four months without resolution, especially given all the communication that had taken place. All of my conversations through this have been very polite and respectful, except for the last one. So here is a free tip for everyone: If you ever have a support ticket languishing in the system, DO NOT submit another ticket asking that it be escalated to someone that cares. All that got me was a lightning quick scolding.

But it also made me realize my son was right from the very beginning. He told me that Pokemon would not fix this, but I said yes they will, TRUST ME. So, you must be wondering what the big issue is, one so complex that it cannot be resolved in four months.

My son did not receive the correct Play Pokemon Rewards for the 2012 season.

He was in the top 100 in Play Points and should have gotten the fancy sleeves and the cross-hatched holo Catchers, but in error he was sent the base packet of blend energies and eviolites. Yep, this whole thing is about trying to get Pokemon to send my son the rewards he earned. If you have ever seen my son play, you know he likes his Japanese sleeves and his foil deck, so obviously he was very excited when he learned of these player rewards. But I guess he will have to be content with the 2 Golden Catchers he has and 2 reverse holo ones.

When my PTO friend told me who he had forwarded my plea for assistance to, I remarked that he reminded me of the scene in Pulp Fiction, where Jules says, “You sendin’ the Wolf? … That’s all you had to say.” Alas, this is not a movie and the Wolf never came.

My son has played just two seasons, and I played with him in the one we just finished. I have met so many nice people during this time. Thank you for your time, and I hope you never have an experience like this.

Gene Boe.

How many Play! Points did your son have? I believe some of the people in the spots between 90 and 100 on the website weren't actually in that range due to players who had Play! Points from both TCG and VGC. Unfortunately there's no way to view a Top 100 list of combined PP.

I don't think that is the case, as the main person I have communicated with at Pokemon has been telling me all along that they will send the stuff, they just never actually do it.

What a drag. World's just finished and I know they've been extremely busy. Hopefully this gets worked out and your words to your boy holds true.

You're not alone; I've been battling the same exact issue. A customer support representative promised me on May 29th that the correct rewards would be sent out immediately. I re-opened my ticket on July 12th, and have not heard anything since. Very disappointing.

I've had the same issue as well. I opened a ticket the beginning of June, they finally responded early July and told me they'd send out my rewards "in the next day or so." No updates after sending another ticket and I still don't have anything.

My brother also had a rewards error (empty envelope), we submitted to support. They informed us they'd be shipping it soon, alas, that hasn't occurred.

Actually, that's my only complaint with the support system ever, every other ticket I've ever submitted has been a decent week or so on average. Can understand your frustration though, it definitely can be annoying.

This is my favorite part of their sadistic system. I'm pretty sure they only have one person answering and I'm almost positive he's a troll or maybe just a mean person in general? Or maybe he just really doesn't care but THANK YOU for mentioning this!

Not to be a jerk or anything, but you are complaining about something that they give away for free.

Yes, it is disappointing when your boy was REALLY looking forward to it.

But it's not a personal vendetta. They are not doing this to you personally. This is like complaining to McDonald's that your son didn't get the happy meal toy that was advertised.

Maybe I'm not understanding something. Sorry if I'm coming across like a jerk.

The main idea is, all of his son's play points of him are indirectly attributed to him driving and using gas in the terrible economy to transport his son to all these events. Which only builds onto the emotional expectancy and patience for these items.
The time his son probably spends practicing, the money they have probably spent on packs of cards. And they can't grab 4 cards off the shelf at their
printing warehouse, shove em in a small letter envelope and mail it off for basically nothing? Pokemon is just flat out not a user friendly company, at all. This has become more and more evident over the last 3-4 years that I have observed them.

Yeah, I would totally disagree. I had the exact opposite experience for my first player rewards. I sent in a support ticket. It took a while. But my son and I did receive our cards. Hope they do end up with theirs. Player rewards are really fun!

I don't know what the issue could be besides they must think your son did get the catchers in the mail. I know they must have more catchers on hand because I won one as a Pokémon Leauge prize at Worlds this year. Sorry you had an issue with getting all of your play points prizes, but this wont be an issue anymore as they have done away with the program. Lucky for us we have never had an issue with getting our proper awards.

I finally got an email follow-up from Pokemon yesterday promising to make it right. Either it's a huge coincidence, or somebody actually monitors these boards to make sure their customers are taken care of. I'm betting on the latter, so thank you, kind stranger.

Yes they do have people monitoring these boards. Kind of sad when you need to publicly expose them for them to actually help you though IMO.

I hope this helps.

I messaged them months ago, due to an error on their part on my player rewards, they didn't reply for months due to tournaments that were on-going(nats, worlds). After worlds I still didn't get a reply, honestly it started to bug me. I come home from school today and I find a huge box outside my door, by the Pokemon company. I was excited to see what was inside (I don't know why, I expected like a whole bunch of stuff judging by the size and was getting happy) and found them re-sending me player rewards. I was pleased, though I question why they had to put it in a huge box, for just 3 packs of card, and sleeves. Yours should come soon though! Considering mine came in without notice!

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick update: My son got his player rewards today! Thank you for all of your support. I hope everyone that has been waiting for their rewards is getting them, too.

Gene Boe.

Submitted a TO application in April, and a support ticket in July about it. Hopefully I will hear back from them, just got to be patient! :/
