Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Nevada (3/1) & California (3/8) Championships

Just wanted to make sure [del]someone would bump this thread besides me[/del] the other states people don't get up too early to go to the airport on conformist time-change day. But that happens on the 9th, and since New Mexico States is on the 8th, but Arizona on the 1st, it shouldn't be a problem -- for anyone!

Smart man...listen to "the bulb" he knows !!

wish that we didn't have to do these all on the same weekends the massive road trips would have been fun.

um , im a beginer to tournament play. and i was just wondering what to expect at californias states and regionals? just because their were lots of beginers at californias citys. i dont have anything against them because im one myself .

Expect it to be bigger. The skill level should be more widely ranged. And don't worry about being a beginner. I was a beginner at my first tourney (Regs '07) and I made Top Cut. Somehow. XD

Elaborating this advice to our 'new player':
Expect it to be bigger.

I'm expecting 7 rounds before the top cut in Masters (at least that's what I'm hoping to play in). Juniors have exceeded Seniors at my events, so we might even see more Junior rounds (5?) than Senior (4?), but those are just guesses.

You might bring water & a snack and a small backpack to help you consolidate your stuff and keep it under your control.

*yawn* been awhile...you guys still goin state to state for the trophies lol? Bad habits do die hard ^^ The store Nevada has for states is pretty nice, unless we get some weird turn out from the other states. Cya people there.

The way they set up states just makes people choose which game they want to play. If they were smart California States would have been on the 1st and Nevada on the 8th. Why you ask? In Nevada the Magic PTQ for Hollywood and a Yu-Gi-OH Regionals are on the 1st and in California the 50th Shonen Jump for Yu-Gi-Oh and another Magic PTQ for Hollywood is on the 8th. Talk about coplettely alienating against any of your players that play more then one game. Let's see play at States for a box and some trophy or play in the PTQ for a chance to qualify for the pro tour were you can win thousands or play in Yu-Gi-Oh regionals for a box and if you top 4 you qualify for nats and get a special playmat, or go to the shonen jump and possibly win a lot of great stuff and a card worth thousands hmmm. I pass on wasting my time at States when I can be hulk smashing people at the PTQ. Hey Stripes you gonna modify your deck or do you just wanna borrow mine.

wow, you're not asking too much of your PTOs are you?

not only do they have to find an acceptable venue on the available dates, try and coordinate with the PTOs of neighboring states to try and avoid conflict, but now you expect them to schedule around OTHER GAMES too? =/

This is the first year in a while where its easy for a POKEMON player to pick and choose the neighboring state to attend here in the far west. Now if CA weren't bigger than most countries and ga$ weren't so expensive, I'd judge in one and play in another.

BTW more advice for new players - table shuffle each opponent's deck. A six pile shuffle before the match makes sure there are 60 cards in the randomized deck. There a small number of (mostly younger) players that stack between rounds. So no one is offended, I do this for everyone... "friend, foe & joe".

for Cali, is the new venue able to hold attendees across all the divisions? last year, the masters had to be held in a different room than juniors/seniors.

Yes they can. I'm trying to convince my dad who's only played in a tournament once to play...

Once again your acting as if your all knowing well let's face it your not:eek: (sorry if I shocked anyone). Our Pokemon TO works as one of the staffers at our Magic events so he knows our Magic TO and our Magic TO is our Yu-Gi-Oh TO as well. So it should have been easy to get them set up on different days especially since they know eachother and since our States is going to be in some little card shop, I highly doubt they have something scheduled there on the 8th. Also considering our TO hasn't stayed the whole time for most of our recent events who's to say he will even stay for this one since he has skipped out on at least one major event in the past.

Also how would there be any conflict with neighboring states? I don't remember reading where on states they said they would make it easy for everyone to go to more then one states by making sure one of the states next to you will have there's on a different weekend from yours.
