I saw this today on Troll and Toad. I didn't know it was going to be available so easily in stores.

Certainly a good step. The last playmats were of okay quality, but I have trust that UltraPro will make a quality product. The pictures aren't fantastic IMO (we've seen that already), but I am going to support them just for the sake of supporting the effort. I want UltraPro and P!P to continue collaborating to create better products.

They're testing the waters. If this sells well, think of all the fantastic things they could print!

They could release a pre-release playmat! Magikarp playmats! Think of the possibilities!

And by Magikarp you mean gengar, Right :p?

But yeah, I agree. Hopefully this gets them to make more and more :) I would happily pay the price advertised for that playmat. Zek and resh definitly not my favourite pokemon. But it's a nice looking playmat :) And I would happily add it to my playmat collection :)

Now make a gengar playmat ultra pro g0g0g0

Could of put a bit more effort in the artwork....

Look at the HGSS mats, they r bad ***, just had to get the art from the BW pack art of those guys, stick it together done.

I have the deck box, the mini binder, a 90 page binder, and the sleeves. Now I'll have the mat too.

I'll stick with my naruto playmats.

Honestly, they really didn't put too much work into the mat. The least they could have done was made a better design.

At the price they're offering it for, I'd much rather stick to no playmats while maintaining a slim chance of winning one via raffles.

Cut it down to about $10 though, and I'll be all over it. But $17 is a bit much for a vanity item you put cards on...

I bought my naruto mat for $12, and they're a lot better.

It's a waste of money honestly, unless you really want a pokemon mat.

Or if you want to support the product so that TPCi and UltraPro don't abandon it as not marketable.

This is pretty cool! And nice that it's supporting your Friendly Neighborhood Gaming Store.

The last thing I want to do is support my local gaming store. Honestly.

I'll buy from walmart or something though. But not the playmat.

They don't have to let you play there, but they do. They don't have to hold tournaments there, but they do. They don't have to get special products YOU ask for, because you think their cool, but they do. And they don't have to put up with your stupid attitude, but they do. Support your store, because they support you.

I would be more than glad to support ANYTHING my local shop is doing. Shoot, I'll even help them promote and sell em, if they let me. I don't know where I would be if it weren't for them. All of my friends, including the girl that I talk to, I have because I met them at the shops I played at, and tournaments I've been to. I wouldn't have a life if it wasn't for my shop. I know this is off topic, but it had to be said.

Back on topic:

I just wish they would have brought out all of them as a set in the beginning. The mini binder, the deck box, the 90 card binder, the sleeves and the mat, all for a good price. I hope they do something like that next time, instead of bringing stuff out separately. It's almost time for a new set, and you know that they're going to have their own set of products.

On the other hand, in areas where there's only one (or a very few) hobby/card store, you have owners that take advantage of their store being the only place to go for events. My local gaming store is like this, so I go out of my way to get to a store with an owner and atmosphere I can respect. I would be more than glad to support the latter store, but I hate having anything to do with the former. Mac's store might be similar.

And sorry for another derail. RE: Price...$18 sounds reasonable, since this one is actually produced for general consumption rather than being a limited run.

@Amphy; Honestly, if you were at my league, you would understand why I rather have nothing to do with it. I don't even go to league or anything anymore, and I don't play any premier events there anymore.
