Today was incredible, I had a ton of fun and this has probably been the best and smoothest TCG tournament I've ever participated in. Thanks to all the judges, Steve, and Tom for holding today's tournament. My brother is psyched about winning the whole thing :)

My only sour grape is the fact Seniors Top Cut will be held tomorrow instead of today. Can someone explain the reasoning behind this? We ended swiss at 3 PM, and could have finished Top Cut this evening rather than tomorrow morning. As a very active player of both the TCG and VGC, I was kind of torn on what I should participate in tomorrow. I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but this was honestly a change that I, along with all the other players I talked too, disagreed on.

Another point is that all the Seniors have school on Monday: Why hold them back here for an extra day / make them stay if we could finish a day earlier?

Please don't take this offensively or disrespectfully, this is more of an observation I wanted to point out. Once again, the tournament today was spectacular, and I want to proudly say that it was the best TCG tournament I've participated in. The Top Cut issue is the only thing I was kind of upset about, and an answer would be nice. Thanks, and see you all tomorrow morning!

If the top cut is announced for Sunday, then it is only fair that it take place on Sunday. We are not doing events to "get through them", we are trying to make the tournament experience the best it can be for all players involved.

With 6-7 rounds, and 3 rounds of top cut, it can mean a 10 hour play day, up to 11+ with breaks for younger players (Juniors and Seniors I am referring to).

Is it best to allow those players, especially those who are travelling to rest, enjoy the evening in potentially a new city with their friends and family, and come back RESTED for a day 2!!!

I fully support a day 2 for all age divisions, especially the younger ones.

It is better for the players, and it is better for the staff.

If it is only a top 8, it will be done by noon to 1 pm, others take a little longer.

My 2 cents.

Hope everyone had a great time.

Vince, I completely agree with what you said. But let me lay out how the scheudule went on Saturday.

Juniors: 5 Rounds, Top 4 cut (All played Saturday)
Seniors: 6 Rounds, Top 8 cut (Swiss played until 3 on Saturday, Top 8 played on Sunday)
Masters: 8 Rounds, Top 32 cut (Swiss played until 7~ on Saturday, Top 32 played on Sunday)

Juniors had 5 rounds of Swiss with at Top 4 cut. This was played all the way through on Saturday. Seniors only had one more game of swiss (6) and a Top 8 cut. We finished Seniors swiss play at 3 PM, and Juniors at around 2 PM. Juniors Top 4 finalists were announced and they were sent off to play their games, while they told all the Seniors to come back on Sunday. I was really confused by this because at all the past Regionals I've been at, where Seniors have had 6 rounds and a Top 8 cut, they have managed to finish well before 8 PM at the latest.

We could have at least played through to the Top 4 matches. The one thing I was really aiming for was the medal, and I felt pretty confident about my matchup in Top Cut (Goth vs. Stage 1's). I don't feel like an extra hour of play would have been much harder on the judges, staff, or players: Especially when you have Masters and even Juniors still playing.

Now, I don't want to make it sound like I'm being greedy. I understand there is only a limited amount of staff members, and that these decisions are made on the spot. I understand that you want the players to be well rested for their games, but honestly speaking, everyone thought it was silly how we couldn't have just played cut on Saturday. Not even my 9 year old brother, who had to play through 9 games that day, was that tired after the finals. Even a bunch of the Seniors in Cut I talked to agreed with me, along with several other Seniors, Masters, and parents.

Sorry for writing so much about this! I just felt like this was the one year I had a chance of winning something in TCG after spending so much time in VGC, and was disappointed by the decision.

But all this aside, thanks to Tom, Steve, and the rest of the judges for making the tournament so incredible. They handled the inclusion of VGC quite well, and it was the best Regionals I've attended by far.
