New Pokemon RPG in the works?!

"Could this be the big announcement that Nintendo Dream was talking about? Nintendo has announced that Gamefreak is hard at work on a brand-new Pokemon RPG, and it's due out this year in Japan. There are (of course) going to be brand-new Pokemon involved, and the series is going to experience some sort of rebirth. Expect new functionality and play types, according to the Big N. Just how different will this game be? Only time will tell, I guess, but Nintendo is already confident that it'll be a huge hit."

Times like this I wish I was in a class beyond japanese 1.

Another source!

"January 28, 2010 - HeartGold and SoulSilver are still the rage amongst Pokemon gamers, but Nintendo isn't letting Pikachu and crew rest. In Japan today, the company announced that a new main entry in the series is being developed for DS.

By "main entry," we mean a game in the line of titles that includes Red & Green, Gold & Silver, Ruby & Saphire, and Diamond & Pearl. The new game is set for Japanese release this year, meaning it will come four years after Diamond & Pearl's original release over there. "

I neither speak or read Japanese.

I can only see "DS", 29/1/10, 1996 and 2010, and RPG, from a quick read. The only thing I can glean from that is...

A Pokemon RPG which will be released sometime in 2010 (In Japan, since I live in Australia, I'll get it in 2050 -_-) which is based on...uhm...the Pokemon game series which was first released in 1996?

*I get points for trying*

Who cares, I'm looking forward to seeing this game in Australia in 2050!

Sorry, the world ends in 2012.:thumb:

But this could be interesting, especially if someone who reads Japanese translated it.

That sounds about right for a new set of pokemon to come out. Last year they had key chains with new pokemon shadows on them and the time line for the next gen. Pokemon started in 95 or 96 for the games and G/S in 2000 the R/S in 2003 then D/P in 2007 so a new set in 2010 sounds about right. I wonder what they'll be like and how miny cool and stupid pokemon there be. Can't wait untel we get to see that new ones and the new games. I hope I can learen Japanese befor the games hit stores.

I think they're possibly speaking about 'Pikachu's Great Adventure,' for Wii, which is due this year in Japan(It's already in testing there, with official released pictures..)

And we're for sure getting atleast one new pokemon.

I saw beta testing for this.

This game is specifically for the ds and is an rpg following in the steps of the traditional Pokemon games like Red and Green in Japan (says in the article). Also there are new Pokemon meaning this is indeed a 5th generation traditional Pokemon game.
Pikachu's Adventure isn't the reference.

Well I'd like to see a new generation of pokes but let's face it, this will probably end up being
POKEMON clarevoiant crystal
the third of the hg ss series, complete with a few new features including a new pokemon (available through mystery gift only of course) what they need is a pokemon mmo where I can catch train and battle pokemon in a huge world and transfer pokemon from ds to pc and back again. That would be better than any other game ever.

hey, i translated it! all it says is that a new generation of pokemon is in development. The rest talks about pokemon's history. Napoleon, you were right !
:a Also, its said to be out 2010.

Pikachu's Adventure has been out for 2 months iirc.

This is good news, better that it's coming this year, but a little odd that we haven't seen any Pokemon yet.

IMO, I think that this is going to coincide with the DS2, which we're rumored to be getting sometime this year. if that's the case, this makes me think they'd be trying to shoot for a new core Pokemon game as a launch title for the DS2, which would be huge

Agreed. There has been 1 generation of pokemon games per system.
red/blue/yellow - gen 1 - Gameboy
Gold/Silver/Crystal - gen 2 - Gameboy color
ruby/sapphire/emerald - gen 3 - Gameboy advanced
diamond/pearl/platinum - gen 4 - Nintendo DS

it only makes sence that the 5th gen game will be with a 5th gen system.

Thats true and at the same time if you look at the year spand between the new gens it's about the time again. about every three to five years a new set and region comes in to play. I wonder what the starters are going to look like, what type of animals they'll be based after. Also I would like to see what the mew of the set is.

I would love to see a stage 2 evolution of Marowak.

Ground/Fighting (Makes him an excellent T-Tar counter)
