New Pokemon series to begin next week?

We don't get Kid's WB here in Columbus, but I hear that the new Pokemon tv series begins I believe the first Saturday of September.

I've seen few episodes for the past 2 yrs - even Cartoon Network doesn't show much of anything after Ash's battle with Ritchie!

First off, it's not a completely new series, it's just a new storyarc based on the Ruby and Sapphire games.

And I don't think Kids WB would plow right into that arc without showing the Johto Silver Conference first and then the end of the Master Quest arc.

EDIT: Uh, a SPOILER mark here, I guess. So... SPOILERS.

Well, it kind of is, considering that Ash ditches literally every one of his Pokémon exept Pika-rat, Misty leaves so we can get the ditz Haruka (May), and Jessie and James stop trying to steal Pikachu.

I vote for a new series based on Kenta (from the Crystal special). That would just rock.

Here's my weird story:
A couple weeks ago I read and ad in a magazine for the
Kids WB Big Really Really Big BIG Premiere
(The start of the new season)
It listed several shows as having new episodes including
Pokemon:Advance
I didn't think this would work since they haven't even started the Silver Cup in Johto. That has to be a few episodes. My only thought was maybe they would start showing Weekday new episodes but they don't appear to be doing that.
However, 2 days ago I saw the commercial on Kids WB for the
Kids WB Big Really Really Big BIG Premiere
(Great Name :p )
It said new episodes for Yugioh, X-Men Evolution etc. & a new episode of
Pokemon: Master Quest
So it looks like they are pushing back Pokemon: Advance

I for one am very much looking forward to the sixth season, it promises to add some much needed new blood into the series.

A new season is definetly going to improve the show. But only if Jessie and James stop trying to steal Pikachu. I change the channel every time they pop up. And Ash joins up with the girl from the R/S game. So that should put a twist in the Ash/Misty relationship.

I believe this new season will be a catalyist for improved character development for future seasons, and it could lead to hopefully a spin-off series hopefully geared to an older audience.

I have felt that the writing in Season 5 has rivaled that of season 1.

I do agree that often times TR's characters suffer from severe "formularic-ITIS", which can serve as a detraction for viewers.

However, in some instances, like with last Saturday's episode, TR provides a great degree of humour that makes the series very enjoyable to watch, IMO.

There isn't any. I maintain that Misty eventually just gave up on him after he was too thickheaded to get the hint.

yeah, but I wish that creators would also give up on Ash. We've been watching him do practically nothing but use Pikachu all the time. If he says he wants to be the greatest pokemon master, WHY DIDNT HE CAPTURE POKEMON WHEN HE HAD THE CHANCE?! Every time he has a chance to capture a pokemon (like Pidgeot vs. Fearow or all the Magnemites/Magnetons, or even in the movies), he never caught the bloody Pokemon. What is wrong with him? Who knows! Another thing he should have done was get rid of Charizard after loosing the Kanto championship. Infact, he should have gotten rid of Charmander when it became Charmelion, IMO.

Yes Marril, Ash is thickheaded, but it's not just with women...

I do wish Ash would use his other pokemon more often. It would be nice if Team Rocket would have other pokemon to use. Then it wouldn't always be Arbok/Weezing/Victreebel with the occasional Wobuffet against Pikachu.
But stop dissing Ash. He's good in the big battles. As for Ash/Misty..
Ash is just a kid. Misty's just a kid but a more mature kid. Brock is well....

Hear, hear, Pidgeotto and Arthas. And why has no Water Pokemon Ash trained ever evolved? Squirtle didn't, and Totodile hasn't. Based on the moves they know, all of his Pokemon (except maybe Phanpy, and obviously Pikachu) ought to be in their final stages by now. And how did his Chikorita learn Vine Whip?
[EDIT] Correction accepted -- Krabby evolved to Kingler. But that brings up another point -- that only took one fight! And another thing about the series -- type alignments have often been ignored or changed just to make a plot work! Witness the episode with Magcargo. Magcargo is Fire/Rock, and therefore doubly weak to Water. But it simply uses Withdraw, and the Water attack does nothing. Then, it gets hit by two Flamethrowers (1/4 damage each) and a couple of Tackles (1/2 damage each) and goes down! What's up here? My final dish on the subject: Why do Water Pokemon (other than Krabby/Kingler) always seem to use Water Gun? It's such a weak attack in the GB games, but it often scores OHKOs, or nearly so, against apparently similar-level opponents, even ones with a neutral or advantageous type alignment (James' Victreebel, although admittedly it's probably not "similarly leveled").

Also, the one thing I don't get is that Ash never lets Team Rocket CAPTURE ANY WILD POKEMON! Last Saturday, that baseball fangirl with the Meganium caught a wild Elekid. Okay, but if it was TR, Ash would stop at nothing to keep TR from catching it.

He is also glad that his Pokémon never evolve (he brags about it, actually). You can't be a true Pokémon Master without having evolved Pokémon, even if it is just for Pokédex data. If the spoilers were right, he'd never have beaten the Blaziken in the Johto Championships without Charizard, and even then it was close.

Final verdict: have Ash lose all his Pokémon to Team Rocket, Haruka goes off and does whatever, Misty and Brock lead their gyms, and we change the star of the show to Kenta. Kenta, Marina, and the guy with the Meganium (Jounouchi?) are much better trainers, and more likeable characters in general.

It appears in the cartoon, the pokemon chooses whether or not they want to evolve just like the trainer decides in the game boy games. What's so wrong if Ash's pokemon don't want to evolve? So his Squirtle must've been over level 50 if he learned Hydro Pump in the Orange Islands. We saw Bulbasaur didn't want to evolve but did reach the level. The krabby must've been a high enough level when it was caught. Ash probably would feel to sorry for a pokemon caught by Team Rocket. As I was watching last friday's Lapras reunion episode I was thinking: There needs to be a Pidgeot-reunion episode.
-Marril, what do you have against Ash? He's not the best but he certainly isn't the worst.

Looking back, I believe that Ash has become a much better trainer in the later episodes than in the earlier ones.

No, I don't buy the line, that he merely uses Pikachu all the time either, because he really doesn't seem to rely on Pikachu as much now, as in earlier seasons.

I do agree the series does need new characters, and Season 6, I feel will deliver on that.

I am looking forward to the new season. :)

I saw a pokemon episode where Team Magma shows up and tries to get something. I even saw May, is this a sneak peek.I just switched channels and it was in the middle of it. Hehehe, Ash saw a Kyogre in the episode.

It's because they gave us a taste of what Pokémon would be like without Ash (and TR without Jessie and James) when they did the Pokémon Crystal animé. Then we never see Kenta (or Vashou and Buson) again. I don't have much against Ash as a person, but as a trainer, he's not someone I want to see representing Pokémon Trainers as a whole.

Oh, and Pikachu's overpowered-ness was cute at the beginning. It's bloody annoying now.

Kyogre wasn't in that episode. It was Relicanth.

Anyway, you don't have to worry about Team Rocket always using the same Pokémon in the next season because they loose and get rid of all their Pokémon except Meowth and Wobbuffet before heading off to Hoenn.

Also, if you will be missing Misty, she will appear about half way through the season... I'm not sure what happens though.

My only concern is what will happen if Ash, May, and Delia are all in the same episode? I wouldn't have a clue who would be talking. Making Veronica Taylor the voice of May was a bad idea. Since Misty is gone, Rachael Lillis would have been a good choice of voice actress.
