Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

New York and NJ States Discissuion

Honestly i cant find the link but i definitely do remember something about it. Ill continue to look and post if i find anything

PokePop, Texas is hosting a VGC-Style tourney, and the link to the specifics is here:

Texas State's VGC Championship

A link to the rules is here:

Rules and Team Sheet

Washington and Oregon will both be holding VGC-Style tourneys during their respective State TCG tourneys as well

To be clear for everyone interested or reading, these are not official VGC events, but rather VGC-style events that can serve as a warm-up to the real thing coming this Spring.

What about this:
Players in the TCG State Championship can play in the VG Side Event for free (after they drop out of the TCG event) while people coming just for the VG have to pay a nominal fee toward prize support?
That way, players can play in the TCG, drop when the VG tournament starts, and get to play for free.
How's that sound?

I can't find the NJ States anywhere on the main Pokemon website. Can see PA, NY, MA, RI, NH etc etc. Help?

Dear Mike and NJ/NY Pokegym fans:

Lissanne asked me to post the details for NJ states which was recently released by Time Warp Jim.

NJ State Championships
Saturday March 13th, 2010
The NJ State Championships will be held at:
Crowne Plaza Hotel Fairfield
690 Route (US Hwy) 46 East
Fairfield, NJ 07004

Front Desk: 973-227-9200

The Pokémon TCG NJ State Championships is a title event series where players in each of the three POP-recognized age divisions compete to earn the title of Champion! This event will be held on March 13, 2010. Results of the State Championships count toward your Premier Rating!

Prizes are awarded to the top finishers in each of three age divisions (Junior, Senior, and Masters).

All Pokémon Organized Play Premier events in North America, other than those that use a Limited Format (such as Prereleases), are FREE! So, there is no admission fee for a State Championship within North America!

The tournament is run using the Modified Format and Swiss pairings. See the Pokemon TCG Organized Play Website for additional information about the Modified and Swiss formats. The number of Swiss rounds run will depend on total attendance of the event.

After Swiss rounds are complete, there will be a cut to single-elimination finals. The number of players to qualify for the finals will depend on the total attendance in each age division, with a maximum of 16 players playing off in any one division.

State Championship events have a K-Value of 32. For more information on K-Value, Ratings, and Rankings, please visit the Pokemon TCG Organized Play Website.

Registration Opens at 9:00am

Tournament Starts at 10:00am

Participants using NJ Transit from Newark should take the #11 to the Willowbrook Park & Ride.
From there it is a short 15 minute walk to the hotel. Walking Map. -- (consult TimeWarpComics and Games website)

Hope for a great turnout and we all expect a great tournament.

P.S. To help spread the word, I will also make this as a separate post in this forum.

OK, here's what I'm looking to do for a DS side event:

Free admission, but a limit of 32 places, with seating priority given to those that have participated in the TCG State Championship.

How does that sound to those that would want to play in a DS event?

Decklist?

Hi everyone! I'm a Pokemon Mom and trying to figure out everything for my kids to enter the NJ tournament. Since the Pokemon site is so messed up, I haven't been able to find a specific decklist for the State tournament. Is it the same as the City tournament? Need to know which sets are still eligible to use!! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I haven't seen anything on the OP website yet. I'm fairly certain that anything you can put into the Pokegym's decklist is legal for States. It's linked right at the top of this website, and it makes things MUCH easier on the Judges who have to read these lists

Thanks bullados! I was advised to use the decklist from here - it looks great. So it should tell me if a card I'm entering in is not usable? That sounds perfect.

Yes, I just checked. The decklist is updated with HeartGold SoulSilver, so it is up to date.

NY States info has been updated with a DS Side event and a Prof Cup format side event.
