Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Next set i think almost everyone is gonna hate it.

SP decks and counter-SP decks will be rampant. Very few other decks will be able to survive.

I mean, in all honesty, just look at ALL the broken support they already have, along with what they will be getting. It's pretty ridiculous.

Plox still will only be mediocre at best. SP decks can function almost perfectly the same without using many powers, which is the main reason for the dominance of Plox last season. Also DRE and Scramble were far superior to Upper Energy. Honestly, I think Stage 2 decks are going to almost die out due to the massive speed/setup difference between them and SP Pokemon.

But, we'll see.

After the next set comes out, the format will instantly switch to an all basic one. Nothing else will keep up.

Maybe Flygon, and maybe Kingdra/Machamp. But otherwise..

SP decks are the the best ones, but also easiest to counter. Anything but Toxicroak has problems with Machamp, because they can't attach Energy Gain and Unown G at the same time. However, SP Radar and Alakazam + Galactic TM are crazy.

Flygon is a great Pokémon but it has neither speed, nor high damage output or disruption. Every deck that did well this season had one of these things. The first attack is good against the metagame, the body helps a lot Flygon Lv.X attack can be devasting. But Flygon on its own can't deal with every deck, so you'll either have to tech a lot or run it as secondary line with another Pokémon.

Beedrill can be a fast swarm deck, but since it depends on bench space and on BTS it can be countered easily.

Floatzel makes Kingdra still survive in the next format, but again, it needs BTS to keep the swarm. Walrein with Floatzel could be good deck in Juniors and maybe Seniors, but in Masters it won't win - one power spray an it's over.

Hippowdon is Blissey with gadgets, and Sand Reset can be sick unless your opponent has Power Spray. ;)

Upper Energy isn't that good since it can't be used with Lv.X cards. It would be a lot better if it could, Flygon and other stuff could take use of it.

Not really. They have the sheer speed to beat Machamp, as well as the tricky stuff too. The Matchup is hard, but if it really scares you, then just add some Upper Energy.

I agree

I can't really see much coming from Beedrill

Floatzel works in any water deck. How does Power spray change it, Floatzel uses a body, not a power.

I LOVE HIPPOWDON

I think it gives a chance for some other red face paint decks to emerge.
My reply is in bold

I have to disagree with this part. I'm really anticipating Flygon to be a good card... or at I at least wanna try it, lol. I think with Palkia Lv. X and free retreat across the field, you can really make up for lost power. The Lv. X's attack is great, 150 anywhere, gets rid of any Dialga G threats that hurt its Body so you can maintain free retreat. All this for 3 energy, and it has a very nice 2 energy attack for 40 (You can basically lock in your own stadium). Don't rule out Trapinch and Vibrava either, they're some of the most complimenting pre-evolutions I've seen in awhile. I do agree, however, that the non-Lv. X's overall attack power is pretty average and doesn't leave much room for basic techs in the deck (Which is really a shame, because Palkia is already crippling it and Azelf would help a whole lot). And if Dark Palm is still up in use, the deck pretty much falls apart :/ (Even if you drag it out, the reduced bench along with resistance really really hurts).

However, I think an early Flygon set up can spell out the game. I've personally played Magnezone Lv. X with Palkia Lv. X for a very long time, and if you gain even the slightest lead you're pretty much in control the entire match.
