Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

North & South Carolina State Championships

TJ is a great player from TN that has won city championships too.

I am as clueless as you are. But if at 9:03 the finals were going on, and each round is one hour, then at 10:03, the top cut should be over. So it's well over that, so the tournament is over.

WHERE IS THE RESULT ANYONE!?

What decks are being played?

Mortar everywhere, some Blissey, GG, and people trying their darndest to counter it all (including Mike Reynolds, Brian Leary, and myself). :frown:

Matt, I think your words ring true right now concerning the current shape of things.

Heh, I probably would have had a great chance with my Swampert deck in the top cut, but I got a first-round loss because Paige told me the registration was 11-12 (it was 10-11), one of my opponents dropped and killed my resistance, and the only game I lost was because I had both my Claydol prized (even though I had flipped two prizes over with Mawile and drew the other two face-down ones... my two Claydol were the only ones remaining).

Sour grapes? Pssh... yeah...

WHERE IS THE RESULT ANYONE!?

I personally don't know; I left before it was over. Kyle was running Magmortar though, not sure what TJ went with.

erik, I am sure some big wig player will come by and post a complete copy of my thread and everyone will praise them.

Kudos to Mike, Brian, and you for trying something new.

Yeah, you're probably right. More likely to happen, however, is everyone will get excited about 1 or 2 "new" decks that win a States here or there. They'll say that it "was the play" and such and such, accusing people of not being able to come up with creative ideas (or at least good ones). What I saw today, however, was disconcerting... I saw three good players with three good rogues not even get into a top cut of 8. And I'm currently watching the "What Won States" thread as GG decks completely dominate the scene. I don't think my experience is an isolated incident either.

Also, I'm not trying to discredit anyone who is doing well with one of our 2/3 archetypes out there, trust me. Remember, I too have played both Blissey and GG this season, so I know what it's like to have to go with consistency. Besides, I have a feeling some people out there like those decks. I'm just pointing out the sad fact that our format has almost completely been dominated by 2 or 3 decks, and States is so far looking no different.

Way to go Kyle!! We miss you down here in Florida but at least you aren't beating up on us anymore.......of course you were easy for me....lol. Great job.

All the Rolls

Thanks for the update Bo. Do you happen to know what TJ was running?

Congrats Kyle!

I know TJ was playing a Mag/catty deck with Mew d star, He beat me in sudden death against my May/catty/typh. I am pretty sure Kyle was also running a Fire truk variation. I hope I am correct.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

btw congratulations Tad, Curran and Kyle, and the other runner ups.

Also my daughter told me that Tad was Running a Darkrai/Honchkrow/weavile deck.
