I bought some Badge Books from eBay and had them scanned. Only now was I able to convert the scans to pdf. Here are the Kanto and Johto Badge Books as well as a flyer and the Victory Road scorebook. The cover and back on the same page though.

Don't know where this would belong, though. Sorry if I can't post this.

Put these in the Pokegym Gallery. They all deserve to be up there.

BTW, I'd LOVE to see the old booklets come back...

nice scans, thanks for sharing. we never got the victory road 'season' so that was interesting to see...

i'd hate to see the books come back. they were cool, sure...but tremendously ineffective cost-wise: how many times have you had a new player show up once or twice never to return?

with books, there goes an entire year's worth of scorecards down the drain. with individual season scorecards the waste is less...even less so if you do what i do and keep new players' match records on a plain 4 x 6 index card UNTIL they've played enough games to earn their first set of promos. i have a lot of temp cards in the box from 'one and done' players; thankfully those are not 'real' scorecards given the restrictions on ordering supplies!

that's not even getting into the players who would forget/lose their books...and having the LL keep them was no fun either...

What were the TM's from the Kanto book, and the promos cards from the Johto book (the boxes look the wrong shape to be cards)? I think the holo energies (6 basics, rainbow and recycle) are from about the right time.

If anyone has scans of what I'm assuming are stickers that would go in the book, I'd be very interested to see them.

Wow, thanks so much Magmortar! I believe I lost my badge books when I moved, haven't looked with detail but I didn't see them, such a shame! Glad I can at least have an online backup of them.

What other league stuff happened after the Johto league? I remember the "Power up your challenge" or something but after the Johto league the only store that did not get rid of Pokemon, changed the league format into a tournament and that is the way it was until I got back into the game and brought the League back with the Sevii islands in the store. I'm familiar with all the seasons after until I moved about a year and a half, my last league was the "energy" badges, I see they are giving away patches now instead of badges, did they get rid of badges altogether?$ I hope we'd get the Black/White ones. But I'm not familiar with what was done before the patches but after the energy badges, I would have hoped they made new Johto badges like they did with Kanto.

Well having been a kid when the original league was here, I can tell you that the experience of having and added so much to the experience and all of that sadly went away. I don't really remember many kids losing their books, even when I owned my own leagues I don't recall many instances if at all were kids would lose their Sevii Island books. When we switched to score cards it was really a bummer since it didn't feel the same, yeah theres the occasional kid that only went to league once or twice, but maybe it could have had a system of you get a score card until you become a regular. In fact I actually think the scorecards are what people lost since they didn't see a small "book" they didn't take care of it as much and it was easier for them to lose it. Just my thoughts, I think the books should make a return, league never felt the same when they got rid of them.

And as far as cost wouldn't it be cheaper to just produce much bigger supplies of the first few badges like the way the original league was set up? That way there would be less waste of badges, which I did have. Plenty of kids would not show up but weren't too regular, so they could only come say two weeks per "season" and by the time they came again we were on another badge and since i'd have to report them then I'd have badges for them for various seasons event hough they only ever got to earn one of them. And its not like I didn't try to help the younger players earn their badges, I tried my best so they could all earn their badges since I rather them have them than have a pile of badges packed up that no one earned. Are we even getting badges for BW or has TPCi abandoned badges altogether?

Oh and 'mum, you definitely missed out on Victory Road, it was a very fun transitional league, it was different, changed the pace a little and whatnot.

If I can find my badge book I actually had all the TMs, if I remember correctly they were just lame/stupid game tips or common sense stuff. They actually re-printed at least the first two TMs halfway through the league and they had different text, not sure if they re-printed every TM with different text or if they had just run out of the first two. There were also some stickers you placed on your badgebook were you got the ability to earn some promo cards in the Kanto season.

I have scans of the old Kanto challenge pages that I need to find again. I loved how some were real challenges when compared to the new ones. Such as Blaine's Challenge which allowed your opponent to look at their prizes and chose the one they want when they KO'd one of your Pokemon.

*makes a note to find these now*

you're missing the point: to reduce the risk of loss i keep the scorecard(s) until the player finishes it, then i give it to them. having to store scorecards is much easier than an entire book per player...

I know I wouldn't want to hold onto the 70-80 books for my league members nowadays. Scorecards take up enough space. Have a few players that only play a few games a week and are still working on most of this cycles cards. : )
