Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Ontario's Provincial Championship and Pre-Provincials.

this is the "Ontario Provincials" correct?

Look at this map.

It could be worse than Kitchener, lets try for Dryden next year :) You guys complain about everything. I drive to and from Guelph every day! (10 mins from the venue) Marvin, thank you for not having it in your store. That would have sucked. You did the right thing.

no offense to your store (it is nice) but 30 min rounds and we have to play rounds in heats like Hamilton would have really got these baby's whining!

When you are right you are right Troy:smile:. Large space with food somewhere in the vacinity of the GTA >> then some of the alternatives we have experienced -- I personnally think that Pickel Lake might be more convenient than Dryden, but that's supposing that the Ice Road is still in place in the March timeframe -- yes I have actually driven on this.

Again I echo your thanks to Marvin for listening to feedback and providing us with what is likely the best venue that works for him.

Only 2 days to go before the Burlington Gym Battle. This will be your first chance to try out your Platinum cards and get your deck ready for the Ontario Provincial Championship. We are expecting a large turnout of very competitive players, including at least 2 Canadian champions and a whole bunch of World Championship competitors.

If you live in Ontario and you play the Pokemon TCG, you have to be in Burlington on Saturday 21 February!

All the details are on www.go-pokemon.com and if you have any questions, please get in touch with me.

See you on Saturday.:thumb:

Z: I hope you can make it. The tournament will not be complete without you and your gang. This tournament will be a great chance to try out new ideas in competitive battles. The emphasis will be on Spirit of the Game and having fun, but there are also good prizes, like an invitation to the Ugly Cup for the winner in each age division. :thumb:

Paul: The Lesage's will be there:) I didn't even have to beg him that much:lol: (I might have to beg for Montreal though...). This seems like a bunch of fun.

A big thank you to all of the Pokemon Masters who came to the Burlington Gym Battle today. We had 24 Masters, 10 Seniors and 10 Juniors. The winners, who earned an invite to the Ugly Cup, were: Matthew K in the Masters, Alaric M in the Seniors and McKenzy Q in the juniors.:thumb:

For those of you who are interested, we got a taste of what decks will be used at State/Province/Territory tournaments next month. Let's just say that those Team Galactic SP Pokemon will be a force to be reckoned with.

I look forward to seeing everybody on March 14th at the Ontario Provincial Championships.

Pehaps the subtext for the Team G deck was:

Team G over Hand Control --> Masters

Kindgra over Machamp ---> Seniors

Kingdra over Team G ----> Juniors

Arguably Kingdra ruled the day. Thx to all players that showed up and to the Ugly Qualifiers:

Alaric:
Mckenzie (interesting coincidence don't you think)
And Matt K.

I'll post the Ugly cup standings ASAP.

Ugly out

Because your opponent can't set-up the small attacks of the deck add up and it just wins. This is a little off topic though...

Small chance I might be coming your way for provincials, just depends if my friends go to Canada for St. Pat's day weekend. I'm judging US Nats so the travel award is not a deciding factor in where I compete, just the fun! I'll know for sure in a couple of days, just gotta talk with my local friends and Fulop.

But how do you win?

T1 eggs, Psychic strategy get opponents hand to max 2 cards. Use Galactic HeadQuarters to put damage on the field and use Full Moon dance to move damage counters.

Use Cresslia future sight on Opponents deck and stack their deck with useless cards for future turns and use Cresslia to attack when safe to do so and make sure everything becomes 2 prize KOs.

If you you see 4 or 5 good cards in your future sight, you use wager and lookers investigation to shuffle your opponents deck and future sight crappy cards for your opponents next draws.

By knowing what your opponent's gonna draw for the next 2-3 turns, you'll know when to attack or when to future sight.

If this strat doesn't work, he probably has a back up plan, like a damage spreader for full moon skip set ups. I'd guess Abomasnow because he's one of the best speaders and reduces the amount of damage done to your own pokemon.

That would be pretty neat. Of course I'm judging, not playing so its going to be role reversal on Ohio States, no official rematch might be possible, but I'm always game for a pick-up game or two.
