Zach could you please recheck the info on the travel allowance? The dates don't seem right for some reason. Either one or the other is off.
Well, we had 21 participants in total. However we only had 5 juniors, so we couldn't run the event as age separated. We ran it as best 2 of 3 in swiss, and although the event ran longer, the players didn't seem to mind. Everyone got a free pack, plus some one of a kind items, some even got more than one door prize. Overall it was a success, and over $100 was raised for the adopt a champion initiative. Much appreciated for all the participants. Have a great time at Provincials everyone.
I thought I'd just go ahead and ask directly in here;
This is my going to be my first anything event as far as TCG playing goes and I've been busily making a deck and reading over the rules and so on and so forth, but I was wondering what happens aside from the tournament. More specifically, is there free time during a lunch break or something, etc. where people might have time for trades, etc.? I'm thinking of bringing my giant binder of Pokémon cards ever, but I don't want to be stuck carrying around a giant thing of cards if there isn't too much time for trading. And should I even bother bringing cards from pre-DP? Personally I still collect cards from *any* set, but I have an impression that a lot of collectors will simply Ebay something once it's rotated out.
Will I be allowed to have a bag under my seat?Certainly you don't want to bring too many trading cards with you, especially if you aren't going to have a car where you can stash the stuff.
all of those were covered in the rules and stuff that I read up online, I'm more or less fully prepped in this regards.> Print out a deck list form from go-pokemon.com or better yet use the deck list creator from the home page of this site (in the upper left corner - 3rd option down) and bring your deck list already done to the tournament
> Bring your 60 card deck, if you are running with sleeves make sure you have a few extras with you as they tend to rip at the most inopportune time.
> Bring your deck in the order of your deck list, I'm not positive but wouldn't be surprised if we will be doing deck checks prior to the start of the tournament
Dice?> Bring dice (or counters) + appropriate markers if you plan to use pokemon that can inflict any special conditions, my guess is that we will be enforcing this rule pretty carefully given the size of the tournament
It is amazing how helpful everyone is on this forum. Thank you so much!
Generally yes. As long as the bag is small enough not to infringe on your neighbours game space. But, having been at enough of these things try to minimize what you bring into the tourney area its a pain to keep track of your stuff and usually distracting to your play.Will I be allowed to have a bag under my seat?
Dice serve two functions. First they make very good damage counters, a single six-sided dice can represent up to 60 damage. So you only need 4 per Pokemon max. There's a lot less risk that mistakes get made then with counters -- at least IMO. You are of course welcome to use damage counters per the rules, but dice are more the norm with the players in our area.Dice?
[/QUOTE]Also oh no I was almost hoping it wouldn't be enforced super-strictly; I basically rummaged together stuff from my theme deck and right now I'm looking at 3 Poison Counters, 3 Burn Counters, and can mark down 260 damage. If I end up unable to mark status/damage beyond those, what would happen? I guess pulling quarters and dimes out would cause too much confusion.
