Yea, not loading for me either. It worked last night/this morning for me around 2amEST but the guy next door couldnt get it to work (dorm). If it's an update I can't think of what they might be doing....

The thing is guys and gals whilst it is down how does your TO report your tourneys? What about getting POP Id's for those of us that don't have the pre-printed cards .. THAT IS THE REST OF THE WORLD!

Got my CC to run today, I can't report it, I can't report any of the other tourneys from this week and I only have a limited number of POP id's left.. After all you can always print more .. DUH!! :(

Shame is if I had know the downtime was coming and going to be this long I would have prepared.. Communication please PUI we need to be able to plan round your outages..

Ah well JOE numbers anyone ..

It's still down at 7.21 pm MYT. I hope it'll come back online tommorrow.

Just wanna ask, op.pokemon-tcg.com has been down how many times? Based on my experience, this is the second time.....

This counts as 4th time since i start updating myself wit OP i think.. two times ago, they flashed a maintenace page to me.. hi! someone from Malaysia!

I am sensitive to the needs of the European players.

With that said, I don't see how this comment has any relevence to anything, other than to continualy badger the community about how Europe gets slighted. I could insert anything after "what about..." - it's not as if this is the ONLY thing that's down.

I'm sure if it was scheudled downtime, they'd have informed us.

Not everything is disigned to screw over Europe, OK? And there's nothing we can do to fix the problems.

I am sensitive to the needs of the European players.

Sorry for the rant. I just get tired of contantly reading about how Europe is unhappy in threads that have nothing to do with it.

What I am trying to say is that in PUI world the OP site maywell not be seen as that important because in the experience of the people that run it there are alternatives available .. BUT THESE ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE US..

I am not slagging PUI or POP off I am just asking that they communicate when this kind of outage may happen so we can plan is that too much to ask?

I am also trying to get people to think how this may and does effect all of us if the outage continues then no OP pages will effectively mean no OP.. it's just that for those of us outside the US that maybe quicker than you or PUI think..

*devil's advocate mode* What if this _wasn't_ a planned outage, but a server crash? After all, we here at the 'gym had the exact same type of thing happen not so long ago, as have other sites such as LiveJournal...

My point EXACTLY.
This has nothing to do with the US vs. international program.

Has anyone an actual (this years) penalty guideline on hand.
I need to find an answer on a question I made in the tournament section, I forgot to put all official rules on my computer.

PhoenixSong,

I really don't know how it works in the USA, but if you need a POP ID for a player in Europe, you have 2 options :
either a connection with PUI's website and you have the POP ID's on line
or print a 'reserve' of POP ID's and use them (which is not really appreciated by some distributors).

I've seen a TO in Belgium having to use ID's of other players who were not playing at a CC and having to ask after the tournament to change the info in the tournament's database because PUI's website was down.

I don't say it's 'European only', I don't know, but I may assure you that this kind of thing is a real problem and is very annoying for the TO.

Please, keep your signature like it is :thumb:

Looks like either:

A. Server maintenance. When you have that, there's usually a maintenance page or a DNS move to point to a backup server.

B. Server outage. I find it hard to believe (as I work in a datacenter) that there hasn't been a move to a backup server or redirect to another page. Maybe the OP page/server doesn't have a DR (disaster recovery) plan?

C. Access issues. I did notice that I get the all ubiquitous "Connection Refused" error when trying to access the site thru FF. IE shows that it can't look up the site. However, nslookups thru root DNS servers (the ones that push DNS to the world), show the IP as there, but pings and traceroutes show the IP as not active which could be a firewall at the datacenter not allowing ICMP (pings/traces).

Michel/Ben, is there anyway that you guys could use POP IDs that are issued to TOs over stateside? Some of us are sitting on quite a few of them and they're literally collecting dust.

Ben & Michel are merely pointing out that they have a harder time running events if they don't have access to the OP website. They're not trying to turn this into a everyone versus Europe thing.

Its 11:46 pm here in New York and the site is still down. I get redirected to a site saying it cant find it so im guessing like steve said its probabily server problems and it had to be shut down. Should be up by tomorrow and if not something bad happened to the site.
