Side Events

FREE Drawing: Anyone who has attended Oregon State Championships before knows it is a full day of Pokemon excitement and FUN. To kick things off we are planning a FREE drawing for at least 5 great prizes.

Here are ways you can get your entry tickets:
  • You will get an entry ticket when you register for the State Championships
  • You will get an entry ticket when you register for the DS side event tournament
  • Entry tickets will be given out as prizes in selected side events
  • If you purchase $20 or more at the Pokemon store you'll get another entry ticket
  • Bring a new player that has never participated in the Oregon State Championships before and you will BOTH be given an entry ticket! (you must register at the same time)
If you bring 5 new players they each get their extra ticket and you get FIVE extra tickets!!!
  • And finally, you’ll get even more entries as you sit down for each of the first three rounds of the main event

You can use those tickets to enter the drawings of your choice for the following items:
  • 1,000 TCGO code cards – That’s 1,000 virtual booster packs!
  • A Video Game player’s kit
  • A Trading Card Game player’s kit
  • A Worlds 2011 Kit with many Worlds items, INCLUDING the Play Mat, hat & MOST importantly a complete Worlds Promo Set of Tropical Beach (binder included)!
  • A Sealed Booster Box (36 packs) of each B&W Set: Black and White, Emerging Powers, Noble Victories and Next Destinies (144 PACKS OF CARDS)!!!

POKEMON STORE: The Pokemon Store, run by Mrs. BDS, has become a tradition at the Oregon State Championships. This year you will be amazed at the number of great items that we've found. The selection has never been better and we will do our part to stimulate the economy by keeping the prices affordable. In addition to all the unique, hard to find Pokemon merchandise we'll have binders full of single cards, as well as LOTS of booster packs and theme decks from all the recent sets at fantastic prices.

DS TOURNAMENT: We will have DS tournament going on throughout the day. The tournament will require you to bring your own DS and game. There will be Pokémon merchandise for prizes, and everyone that participates will get an entry ticket for the FREE Drawing! We will structure this tournament in a way that those people participating in the main TCG tournament can still participate in the DS tournament so come and do both.

RULES COMNG SOON

LEAGUE PLAY: You can spend your time before, after and between rounds of the main event battling with old friends and new acquaintances, and every one of those battles entitles you to a pick from the card box at the League Headquarters. In the box are hundreds of Pokemon cards from years past, BUT sprinkled throughout the box are some special cards that get you great Pokemon prizes! Both TCG and Video Game battles count for League, but matches in the tournament do not count.

FUN ZONE: We will have Pokemon related activities such as a Pokemon Photo Booth, Rumble battles and a creative center for expressing your artistic skills. Plans are still coming together for these activities so be sure to check it out over in the side event area.

< Based on interest, we will hold side events after the Swiss rounds of the main tournament end >

BOOSTER DRAFT TOURNAMENT: You will get six boosters (Recent sets), which will be drafted in pods of 6 to 8 players. You will then build a 40-card deck. All these cards are yours to keep. Energy will be provided (we will need the energy returned after the tournament). After putting together your deck (you have 30 minutes to do this), you will play three or four 20-minute rounds in a Swiss style tournament (everyone plays in all rounds). Prizes will be Pokemon Boosters. Entry Fee - $20.00

CONSTRUCTED or THEME DECK TOURNAMENTS: Upon request if there is enough interest.

Stay tuned for an announcement of what the giveaway drawing items will be at the Oregon State Championships this year.. We should be ready to start announcing items right after the first of the year. Mr. Raichu, momma_june and I have been working hard to come up with some great prizes for the drawing. We need to find some things like the 2011 Worlds Kit which was VERY popular at Regionals (hint, hint).

Can anyone suggest decent hotels in the area that would have a continental breakfast?

Mr. Lucas and I will likely be attending this event.

Cant wait to learn some new tricks from the old dog.

Jimmy,
We used the Shilo Inn for our Regionals hotel. They have a limited continental breakfast. Reasonable room rates & indoor swimming pool. Its about 5-10 min. from the venue.

Flight booked, Car rented, Hotel Booked.....

I am staying at the Howard Johnson 3.1 miles from the tournament.

Send me a PM if anyone wants to meet up for testing the night before.
